Jerry is getting old enough he will start doing desperate stuff to win another super bowl before he dies. So I don't think it's that far from possible, unless his kids talk him out of it.

that is something that really worries me; once Jerry thinks he is on the clock he will start to take even wilder chances.

Jerry thinks he has the next Tom Landry right now. He isn't getting rid of him any time soon

At one point there was buzz of him being HC here which unfortunately never happened. However now there are a few factors that make me believe it's possible:
-the saints are terrible and brees is on the wrong side of 30
- Jerry always loved Payton
- There's only so much excuse making for JG
- Payton can develop Dak
- Payton has a home in the metroplex
- Payton has championship pedigree
- Payton is more innovative and would maximize Dez talent

Am I wrong? Would a losing season potentially lead to discussion of JG being shown the door?
Any decent NFL coordinator or top college coach would have gotten us to at least the NFC championship game last year and would not have allowed the dismantling of the best unit in football this year (OL) .. the key to our average QB's success last year.

I think Steven has a lot to say nowadays. If we don't make the playoffs and win at least one then I can see Steven starting a new reign of coaches. I believe Romo would be brought in as the offense coordinator if not the coach.

Why would Steven be any different than Dad?

Hiring Payton would be widely acclaimed around these parts, until he pulled off one of his patented "0 fr Septembers".

Then he'd be turned on like every other player or coach of this franchise.

I believe the last few years with the draft picks and not paying big money for free agents are because of Steven.
We could have used 1 or 2 FA difference makers on the OL or @ LB. It was more about his potential to retain a yes man restated coach like Garrett. Junior is a football moron like his Daddy, question is: will he hire a real gm / coach like Jimmy?

And we have no defense.

Our defense gave up 22 points in the second half...at home.

And Payton's defenses have mostly stunk in New Orleans.

That's what we are hoping for. With Steven he might. With JJ it will never happen.
