Rewatching Brent

Analysis overload on a marginal players who is rusty, is a felon and halfs bad habits.
you could half fixed the sink, gotten more butane for the tank for this winter or looked for the farm subsidy check in the mail but you chose to spend time on Brent.
(But the post was well intentioned and we appreciates it)

Good lucks.

while your contributions have been so weighty

problem is that he has been away from football so long will he ever even be that good again? What is going on with McClain just illustrates what a long layoff from playing and practicing does to you.

To be blunt the O line of the Giants was NOT that GOOD. So the fact that he played well there, not that much of an indicator.

David Baas is still the center of the Giants so it would be the same matchup this year. I am not going to say that Baas is good but he is about NFL average. Frederick is already one of the best C in the league and as a rookie he had all manner of warts. All I am trying to do is show what Brent was doing to average two years ago.

He does not have to be better than Vince Wilfork. He needs to be better than Nick Hayden.

Look if you do not trust him then fine. If you cannot get over that he is responsible for the death of Jerry Brown then fine. Just do not sell him short when it comes to how he played on the field because you do not think other people are convinced by those reasons as you are.

It is hard to tell what is schtick and what is real with you. I just take it at face value though I know it's likely not valid.

I can respect if you cannot forgive something. We watch the team to enjoy it.

I cannot respect misinformation that is in effort to have people make uninformed decisions. The Giants clearly thought Brent was marginal to start the game and tried to attack him with the running game. The quit trying 10 plays into the first quarter.

You have no idea what condition he is in.

I get made fun of routinely by the peanut gallery because I treasure accuracy but I think it important if people are going to be treated fairly. Your emotionally charged adjectives are not accurate.

If Brent is re-signed, conceivably, halfway through the season, this could be the starting lineup:

Crawford - Brent - Melton - Lawrence

That actually looks like a legitimate NFL defensive line. Not dominant, mind you. Not great. But legitimate.

do not give credance to the peanut gallery. they just half no manners or intellectual properties.
yes, i half no idea what condition he is in. Am I the only one?
And just as i have no idea what condition he is in, you on the other hand know the Giants thought Brent was marginal and thus attacked him in the game. Well played.

As to uninformed decisions, i wood respond to you thus: it is an American tradition to be misinformed. I dare not go against the tunnel of history and put the universe time continuum in jepardy by straying from that principle. I wood say more but now your invectives half made me leaf the room in tears.

Second play from scrimmage, they ran a stretch where the runner tried to cut back behind Brent out by the right hash where Brent had moved down the line. They ran power isos early. I don't know what the Giants thought but I do know how to attack a NT. The first time they isoed him they tried to single block him and he shoved Baas backwards. They tried it again in the second quarter with a combo block and couldn't move him while the free LBs made the tackle.

Youre right. I don't know what the Giants were actually thinking. Nonetheless, Wilson and Bradshaw did not have cut back lanes when they ran. That is a sign of great NT play. When the runner cuts back, he does it through the middle. Its the nature of left to right and vice versa. Brent got in on several tackles.

It really is too bad that he did what he did. This is a player Cowboys fans should not have to struggle to get excited about. The good thing is that redemption makes for a good story as well. Hopefully he can earn that.

That second play escape my mammory. But you sound informed on running and tackling. And I am all for redemption. that says America to me.

From what I can remember about Brent he looked better than decent and seemed to be gaining ground for a guy taking on double teams every snap. More of a goal line short yardage situation player vs high digit sack #'s on passing downs..

I just don't agree that his 5th chance should come at the expense a talented young man who actually has earned his FIRST chance.

2 related infractions in college
1 In the NFL that resulted in the death of his friend
1 failed drug test while awaiting trial
and now being given another chance.... in what way is this reasonable?? It makes me want to puke!

That is not how the NFL is looking at it.

It's one incident since he has been in the NFL. The vehicular manslaugher is different and above and beyond anything he had done before too. If you want to make that connection then it is just as reasonable to look at all the people that drink and drive every night in America and don't get caught. I have done it and don't feel comfortable condemning someone else for it. A bad act is a bad act.

The NFL would be allowing him back into the league for a second time.

It's all about your potential as a player. If a team sees you as a high upside guy, you're going to get more chances than the player they determine has a lower ceiling.

I'd be surprised if Brent isn't suspended for this year though.
