I like his chances too.
But busts happen as often for the simple reason that a player does not have the skills (mentallly and/or physically) that the drafting team thought they had.
David Carr, David Klinger, Todd Blackledge, Heath Shuler, Kelly Stoeffer, etc, etc, etc.

.........and we can add Joey Harrington, Dan McGwire, Andre Ware,Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf, to that list: must be about 75 million lost in signing bonuses alone on both our lists DFWJC.......unreal. Yeah, he could bust......the thing that gets me is the fact he does NOT come from a pro style offense and he is use to freelancing and ad libbing alot and getting away with it against alot of PISS POOR DEFENSES IN THE BIG TWELVE......that doesn't work in the NFL. Gotta stay in the pocket or you'll get ruined. If he thinks he has the quicks of Mike Vick, well........he doesn't as he's already proven fallable in college. Stay tuned.

I really don't see him busting at all. When you think of a bust 99% of the time you can associate it with maturity, drugs, and/or work ethic. It doesn't seem like RGIII falls under any of these categories. I think he will be fine.

Joey Harrington, Akili Smith, Tim Couch, Heath Shuler, Rick Mirer, if I recall, those were all guys who flamed out because their skills were over-rated, not because they were knuckleheads in the Ryan Leaf/Jamarcus Russell mold.

The chances are greater than 50% because of a host of factors:

1. Average bust rate of 1st round QBs.
2. Success rates of QBs with his playing style.
3. Success rates of Commanders QBs.
4. No history of playing in Pro Style Offense.
5. Being forced to start immediately.
6. Having uncompromising offensive coaches who notoriously do not try to fit the system to the QB.
7. Will be on a short leash and will be turned on when the Commanders continue to be cellar-dwellers.

Actually when he throws, the way he poses and flicks his wrist. Just the way he carries himself on the field. I believe he is very concerned with how he looks when doing what he does. And if you don't agree then fine, but the stupidest thing you've ever seen on this board? Really? Not sure why people feel the need to attack someone they don't agree with. I'm a Cowboys fan through and through, but as much as it pains me to say, I think RG3 has a bright future ahead of him. Then again, there's nothing wrong with having to play the best in your division to earn your way into the playoffs.

Griffin has a higher bust potential than Luck (who is almost a sure thing IMO) but if he can learn to take a hit then I think he'll be pretty good.

I actually agree with this guy that Griffin appears obsessed with style.

So much BS going on there. The useless sleeve on the non-throwing arm. The glove on the non-throwing hand. The stupid pointless little arm bands around his left elbow and wrist (seriously, why on earth does he wear three of the and plus a sweatband on his left arm... and the towel). Apparently has some sort of leggings on under his uni. Then has the shield on his facemask in addition to blackout under his eyes and the blackout at times has stuff written on it. And the dreads with a little cap on under the helmet. It seriously looks like he spends an hour getting dressed for a football game.

Add to that the socks crap and how he dresses off the field, you can see a guy who is very much obsessed with style.

So to say that is the stupidest thing you have seen says much more about you than the guy who posted that.

Look, I think Griffin is a good kid. He is a military brat who grew up in a small town that is out in the Hill Country. When he got to Baylor, I think he became king of that small campus and started to believe he is a big deal. When he gets to center stage in DC, with all the attention and pedestal worship, I think it is not unreasonable to think that the good kid from Copperas Cove could be changed by a blown-up ego. As I said in an earlier comment, that wasn't a big deal last year for the swagger-king Newton because his narcissistic personality embraces that attention. But I could see it changing Griffin, and the nice, humble kid could become unrecognizable. It has happened many times before in history, so it wouldn't be surprising.


(Edit: just by way of example, I'm sure you all remember in Any Given Sunday Willie Beamen's transition from good normal guy into raging narcissist and arrogant Steamin' Willie Beamen after he had success. That character transition was written that way and we understood it because we have seen in the past. It's a known character archetype. So it's not unthinkable that Griffin could follow that and stop being the humble good kid; his love for style is some indication of a proclivity in that direction)

You're the geniuses who were trying to sell Grossman and Beck as legit NFL starting QB less than 12 months ago (and McNabb as a HOFer the year before that... and JC as the best QB in the NFCE a year before that).
