Rice admits to “illegal” use of stickum

Now that football season officially is over, Patriots fans can spend more time scouring the Internet for links and videos to support the notion, as previously articulated by PFT, that cheating in the NFL extends far beyond New England.

Multiple readers (presumably Patriots fans) have sent in recent days to PFT a link to a video published by ESPN on January 17, 2015 regarding the evolution of gloves. Dated only one day before the dawn of #DeflateGate, the segment contains an admission from Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice that he may not have made if discussing the subject after expressing an opinion to Jim Rome that the ball-deflation controversy should place an asterisk on the latest Lombardi Trophy won by the Patriots.

‘I’m going to be point blank, I feel like it’s cheating,” Rice told Rome on January 22. “Because you have an edge up on your opponent and its unfortunate that it happened. I’m not saying the outcome of the game would have been different or anything like that because they got beat 45-7, but they still had an edge.”

Like I said in another post, no team could hold up to the scrutiny placed on New England over the past few weeks. Everyone's got a couple speeding tickets. That's all any of this is.

The difference is that the Patriots has a vehicular manslaughter ticket as well.

I don't think anybody thinks they needed a deflated ball to beat the Colts, but when you have egregiously cheated in the past future transgressions, even if smaller in scope, get massive scrutiny.

In other words, they did it to themselves.

For what? Filming a man standing on the sidelines in front of 80,000 people? Puh-leeze. Sorry, charlie, just another speeding ticket - and everything else is just hater made up nonsense and lies.

The 'everybody cheats' excuse is just an excuse. If they all cheat, they should all be held accountable. That doesn't excuse NE for not playing with regulation equipment and benefiting from it being out of regulation.

I agree they should all be held accountable, but they should all be held accountable to an equal standard.

Chargers got caught using stick'em and got a $20,000 slap on the wrist.
Vikings got caught tampering with balls and got a letter of warning.
Aaron Rodgers admits he overinflates balls an absolutely nothing happened.
Commanders tamper with players and absolutely nothing happened.

So it would not be "competitive balance" to take a infraction in line with those listed above and fine 'em $1,000,000 and a 1st rounder and suspend the HC and QB.

There you go repeating the Aaron Rodgers stuff. I have asked you a few times to produce a link and you can't or won't do it, but you have no problem repeating it.

Most importantly, we deny that we are in denial. We only see what we want to see and we only believe what we want to believe. Surprisingly it works. We constantly keep lying to ourselves and after a while the lie seems to be the truth. We keep denying the truth so much that we cannot recognize the truth standing right in front of our eyes.

We all want to be happy and contended and thus, denial is an attempt of our brain to reject unacceptable feelings, needs, thoughts, wishes or any painful reality that alters the perfect picture that we have drawn in our minds. This little act of denial protects us temporarily from seeing the reality and living in that perfect world that we have created for our sub-conscious mind.

The feeling of denial is wonderful, it protects us from the cruel truth and helps us to believe that something is true, when in reality it is false.

At least he hasn't used the "Tom Brady Dad" card yet. Another supporter in denial . . . . . . . . . . . .

Aaron Rodgers was talking on BSPN radio, don't remember the show, and said he is one of the few guys who likes the ball hard, over inflated, but he has to throw a ball that is softer than he likes because its made to comply with the psi regulations. He may have said he tries to have it over inflated, but I don't recall for sure one way or the other.

I have produced a link to the Phil Simms quote and video where he says Rodgers told him he deliberately overinflates the balls and hopes the refs don't catch him. I'm not going to do it again so if you don't believe me, google is your friend.

So you admit the Patriots are guilty of deflating the balls, at least we can agree on this much
If that is your interpretation of what I wrote then you have the reading comprehension of an average 2nd grader.

But I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you're just being deliberately obtuse and trying to put words in other peoples' mouths.

How the heck am I supposed to interpret it any other way?

Or is that something a second grader just can't grasp?

"Any team caught cheating should be held accountable to the same standard" =/= "The Patriots were caught cheating."

No, you never did reply to me with that information. I on the other hand did post that information a few times in direct response to a couple of your posts in different threads because you like to repeat the claim about Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers admits he overinflates balls an absolutely nothing happened.

There is no direct admission from Rodgers as you claim. It is a quote from Phil Simms about a supposed comment from Rodgers. While the NFL is not beholden to the same standards of a court of law the NFL would have a hard time punishing a player for hearsay. There is no context about whether Rodgers was smiling and laughing during the interview or anything of that nature.

Plus these claims you attribute to Rodgers do not do anything that breaks the NFL rules. Let's assume he over-inflates the footballs prior to inspection by the officials. Nothing wrong with that since the referees are given the footballs to inspect and set to the league mandated pressure. That is the whole point of the inspection process.

You can repeat over and over that Rodgers claimed to have broken NFL rules, but you have nothing to back it up. That is why he isn't punished and "absolutely nothing happened". If he did something to break league rules I will all for him getting punished by the league. These claims are nothing similar to what the Pats are being accused of doing. It just comes across as whining.

And I will add this as well. In the Phil Simms quotes he goes on to talk about Aaron Rodgers having very big hands. Rodgers does not have very big hands relative to other NFL QBs. He has average to small hands by those standards. That goes to the credibility of Mr. Simms.

Newsflash: Yes, like so many things in our society, a quote attributed to someone is something that was spoken directly to a member of the media who then relayed the quote on to all the rest of us.

Phil Simms' integrity has never been called into question AFAIK and there is no legit reason to think he is making the whole thing up.

Please note I never said anywhere that Rodgers should be punished, let alone punished severely. I just laugh at the hypocrisy of people like you who want to throw the book at the Patriots when you didn't give 2 turds about Rodgers admitting he did it or the Vikings actually getting caught doing it.

Lol.. Using BB exact words in his PC when asked about deflated balls. BB is that you? At least be original instead of repeating their party line.
