Really, how many people has he killed?

It is usually the bully that gets killed anyway, ... the one that is getting bullied eventually snaps and kills somebody. (see school shootings, etc.)

If the stories are true that the coaches put RI up to this, then Martin was never in any real danger at all.
Incognito wasn't lashing out and attacking Martin from the evil in his heart, .. he was just following orders.

That defence failed at Nuremberg

Have you read the comments from a lot of the players? It supports what I'm saying.

For every Darren Woodson, there are multitudes of Michael Irvins, Pacman Joneses, and Richie Incognitos.

Remember, Irvin stabbed Everett McIver in the neck with a pair of scissors.
allegedly ;)

Boys on my son's team say things to him, he used to take it now he just tells them to,,,,,,

I also told him once, hey if goalie says anything to you, just shoot it at his head in the next practice and go oops.

I just find it funny you, and others, equate walking away from the nonsense as quitting..

Not knocking you, at all, because you're not the first to suggest it. Just find that interesting. Because maybe for him, walking away WAS doing something. He WAS standing up to him.

Oh well, we'll find out soon enough...

I agree WG, reminds of the "keeping it real" sketch from the Chappel Show. "keeping it real" would have gotten Martin no where, i think people are missing that point.

I wouldn't have faulted Martin for beating the hell out of Incognito either, but him walking away seems to me the more mature response.

More like going AWOL (literally) after he went to the dining room and sat a table and they pulled the 'lets get up and leave' gag.

To me, that's not really mature either.

I just feel there's more to the story. Doesn't mean that Incognito is any better or that Martin was wrong, but everything just feels fishy. I would imagine most of us would have confronted RI or gone to the higher ups after RI allegedly made slurs, threatened him and threatened his family. Not going AWOL after a sophomoric prank was pulled.

IIRC, Martin's parents are also attorneys and he went to Stanford. I would imagine he knows his rights to the workplace and could have brought that up to the higher ups and threatened a lawsuit or to just take it to the press. I imagine that would have put an end to it there.

These days the sporting press is just going to put out any information that comes up, regardless if it is true or not. I think people are taking this information from the press at face value. But if you look at what has been alleged so far, it really doesn't make a lot of sense.

Is Incognito suspended with pay?

How should the db with the Giants have handled JPP?

you willing to die for that? Because with a nut like Incognito that is a distinct possibility

Once again, standing up for yourself, doesn't mean getting into a fight, it means stopping what is happening. Now should you be prepared to defend yourself? Absolutely, but you have to stand up for yourself. I can't imagine slinking away with my tail between my legs.

Now it appears that RI was told to toughen up Martin, now this was a bad decision by the coaching staff and RI did take it to far. However, RI never put his hands on Martin as far as we know. This was all verbal. It appears that Martin was not "tough" enough and the coaching staff wanted him hardend.

Funny thing, I bet that if Martin took a stand for himself, everything would have changed for him. The way Martin handled it showed that he is a mentally weak person who can't be trusted. Why do you think so many NFL players are coming out in support of RI? I think it is interesting, people were ready to crucify dude from philly for saying the N word, however black players are supporting RI even when he said the N word. That is very telling to me in this situation.

Personally, I believe there's alot more to it than just slurs and schoolyard pranks. Folks don't walk away from six-figure jobs because of that. The VM and texts were clearly just a sample, but who knows how much or how long Martin endured what he considered harassment.

OTOH, I give Incognito no benefit of the doubt, because his history in the league suggests he's a turd. In this case, he might be an innocent turd, but he's still a turd. And it shows a tremendous amount of bad judgement by the coaching staff to send a turd after a guy so he could "toughen" him up. What did they think would happen? smh

I agree. But regardless of the level of Incognito's 'turdacious' behavior the truth is what matters most here. I wouldn't say that I won't give RI the benefit of the doubt. But, I'm skeptical of him and his behavior. In the end, I would rather see dolts like Adam Shefter actually vet what they are hearing instead of just blurting out anything that anybody says about the situation.

There were other Eagles players who supported Cooper as well. It wasn't a case of every Eagle on that team wanting to get rid of or punish Cooper. Just like this case. Not every Dolphin is coming out and saying they support Incognito. A few have said they have supported him at this point, but a few is hardly the whole team. Of course this story is really just getting started. Who knows how it will play out?

Racist or not he is, on record, as having threatened Martin and his family.

Which happens virtually every Sunday in every game.

I'm not saying it's right, that's just the way it is.

They might if they have two Harvard-educated lawyers for parents who just figured out a way to soak the Dolphins for a career's worth of salary without playing another down of football.

It's established that the Dolphins are trying to light a fire under Martin, who doesn't seem to love the game.

There is a big difference between trash talk and what Incognito said to his teammate.

Context is important but many posters are ignorant to it
