As bad as we want to win, the Cowboys will never give Rico Witten's playing time. They may convince Witten to retire in the offseason or take a part-time role, but they just aren't going to do that to their hall of famer in the midst of this season....won't happen.

Hence?.the start to transition.....comment......
I did not say replace him, or did not mean it that way. I am saying start getting Rico some snaps, then if he does well, increase those snaps.

Witten has maybe one year at best after this one IMO. They need to see what they have in Rico. As they surely don't pan to do it with Swaim or Hanna.

Please please be careful. He is a basketball player who played well against other teams players that most likely got cut. Please lets slow down. We have no clue how well this guy will play against a real defense

Recall the reports last year that Will McClay said Tony and Rico could light our defense up last year during practice. He's massive and has ball skills, so he should be an easy target for Dak. Hopefully, he's not afraid of contact now after this concussion.

Considering he apparently had one of the worst concussions in recent football history, if the staff is to be believed, it's probably better to take things slow.
The worst or best fake job
Hopefully a fake job because otherwise he better consider retirement

Yep, like Dak did last season , and Rush this past season. It's time to see what the kid can do already. You don't learn football by sitting on the bench.

I don't think it was a fake job because I read he also had neck and jaw injuries after the concussion. His head was basically whip-lashed. Best to give him all the time he needs to get that cleared up because this guy can be a real difference maker.

Perhaps I don’t. Where would u recommend to get more info on it?

The mystery to me is the FO’s radio silence on it. Not that he has the symptoms.

Med school. Absent that a few good summary articles from reputable journals is a good start but you dont have the neurological background to compliment it. No offense intended.

That is actually good news I think
At least not just the worlds worst concussion
A concussion lasting this long would really scare me going forward

Yeah. But the silence on his medical condition has been deafening. This is the weirdest concussion protocol I’ve ever seen for a guy that didn’t appear to be hit that hard when it apparently occurred. Did I miss the in depth explanation of why he missed so much time and had so few updates on his condition? I find this situation completely bizarre. But glad he’s healthy enough to get back cuz he looks like a playmaker.

things haven't added up for while. Team was saying he was still having concussion symptoms while Broddius was reporting is was more of Jaw issue. I agree with you, the video didn't show the hit was too severe.

Why is it so hard for some folks to figure out they stashed him on the IR list to avoid losing him on the practice squad or waiver wire?

It was a bad head injury. I think I'd rather sit him the rest of the season and see where he's at in the summer.

But I like the mindset of getting rid of Witten. It has to happen.

It was so bad the Cowboys pulled a fast one on the league with their manipulation.

got it...so I take it you are/were an M.D.? If so, based on your educated POV on this, what do you think is the issue with Rico's prolonged concussion protocol status? Many in this thread attribute it to the FO pulling a fast one and it really not being about the injury. Do you share that perspective or do you feel he has a brain injury to the level of severity that would keep him out for this extended period of time?
