The Cowboys will try him at RT rather than OG. That means Free is the future LT unless Brewster does not pan out at Tackle. They think he will.

So if Iupati isn't around at #27 we go CB?

Because he came in lacking upper body strength and his bulk was his asset.

His feet were slow.

He couldn't hold the edge rusher down and is more suited to body fight a guy with garbage going on to the left and right of him.

I just hope he's learned some kick step techniques or he's going to get roasted as a Right Tackle as well.

If those long arms aren't strong they will just be pushed away.
Where did you hear this from?

He was rusty.

But up until the injury and playoff games he was a solid player.

No disagreement here on that point. His mean streak definitely adds some swagger to our line as well.

Exactly. That's why I tend to think we go in that direction.

No more Proctor!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unless they draft 2 OGs or Travis Bright wows them, get ready for another year of Procter on this roster. They love him.

Actually I think we'd look to trade down and grab either Pouncey or Ducasse unless the FS or WR we want are there.

We couldn't trade down too far. Pouncey is very likely to be picked by the Colts and OT are always very sought after and hes a pretty good one.

HE can backup three oline positions. Hes not as strong at the point of attack as ideal but he is good in space and technically precise. Hes a good backup center and an average backup guard.

Ducasse was mentioned too. Who knows how far we'd trade down? I think Iupati is there at 27 and is the pick.

From what I have been told he is also extremely intelligent.

Personally..I think Brewster is just another JAG O-lineman that we drafted and will be a lifetime backup.

Bash me if you want. I have history on my side to back up that claim.

23 reps for an O Lineman is weak.

And since he has been with the Cowboys I have talked to numerous people who have told me the plan was for him to take last season to get with Joe Juraszek and bulk up.

Unfortunately that plan took a four month hiatus from the injury.

But I am sure he's back into the swing of things now.

Stay healthy. Get stronger and he's on schedule.

Were you one of the ones who felt Free was JAG before the season started?

Exactly, I am guessing that he tore it overworking trying to build strength.

Might of.

He's upgraded to a OBJAG

Above Average Just A Guy

Let's not bring out the annointing oil yet. He scares the hell out of me at LT.

Wouldn't mind trading down for Ducasse, but IMO all of these guys would have to be gone at 27 for me not to take one of them instead:

G Mike Iupati
S Earl Thomas
DL Dan Williams
WR Golden Tate
C/G Maurkice Pouncey
DE Jared Odrick (although he's debatable)

The word was that he wasn't a weight room guy at all so his body wasn't used to all the lifting.

I guess country strong gets you 23 reps.

Free's gone from being a wasted draft pick, to too weak to start, to a starting-quality RT, to a starting LT who's not good enough to be anything but mediocre in the last 12 months. I wonder how good he'll end up being when he breaks into the starting lineup full time at LT and gets some experience? My guess is he starts for us and plays well at LT for the next six years.

I agree - people have been way too negative on the kid. He's like the new TNew on the roster. No matter how good he plays everybody harps on one bad play he made in one of his last four starts.

He is big, quick, fast, great in space and has a bit of a nasty streak - remember what he did to that Commanders safety after he picked off Romo's pass - he practically snapped that dude in two making the tackle along the sideline. He is not a great drive blocker but is a very good positional blocker who beats you with quickness. Davis and him were doing some great work in the running game late in the year.

Not anointing anyone, just like I'm not drawing conclusions that they are JAGs, either.

I prefer to wait and see how it plays out. Right now, I feel pretty good about Free's chances at LT based on what I saw of his play against Jared Allen and his work at right tackle. That doesn't mean he can't flop, but I liked what I saw.
