Robert Saleh at the Star for in person interview today

There have been plenty of stories about Jerry paying for front office

McClay
Moore
Parcells
Garrett got 6 million a year
Zimmer got 4m last year

I have no doubts I could dig up more.

We dunk on Jerry for being cheap, but there are clear examples of when he’s paid for people who aren’t between the lines but he wants to attract or keep.

But, this being the Zone, the echo chamber message is that the Cowboys pull up to the Home Depot and hire day workers who will be the team’s Head Coach for $16 an hour.

Maybe McCarthys deal, that he agreed to, matched the results delivered? Shocker, I know.

I just wish we could have real football conversations here.
Sounds great. Let’s have a “real football conversation” about the “incentive based” deal Jerry expects the new HC to agree to. That came out of his mouth recently.

You first.

"I learned how to coach from being under Saleh," Ryans said. "He taught me a lot when it comes to scheme when it came to just handling players, game planning.”

Texans were 4th in defensive efficiency this season.

Jets were 2nd in defensive efficiency this season, until they fired Saleh.

Imagine being against this hire.

Can be a great DC without being a great head coach. Maybe Saleh would have more success here than he had in New York, but it isn't like he'd be getting a GM advantage here.

I can actually see the brass and especially Stephen getting enamored by him. He’s a high character guy and tough dude. It will all depend on who he wants to bring in as his OC.

I would much rather him than KM.
I'll take him as DC

If Salah were to become HC , ..the biggest guess work would be who will be phantom new wizard OC that will turn it around for Dak and the Offense ...?

who would (should? ) be the big names as new OC ... or do the " Jones" wanna chance (insist ?) on going with current OC Brian Shotttenhemeir ...?

2nd would be the DC and key asst. coaches that Salah/Jones could hire on ,,,

Cautionary tale.... remember when Saleh was the flavor of the off-season like 2 yrs ago? Before the Jets hired him? Everyone crowned him. The Jets were being praised as being aggressive and hey they wanna win. Ben Johnson is of the same ilk except on offense. Is he a product of players or his scheme? Can he lead? Saleh, was he a product of the scheme with the Jets, and a terrible culture that one man can never fix? I mean, the players there turned on him quick. But the defense was good. I guess what I'm saying is, he's a great DC only but I think we saw what he is at HC. I still I like him better than km.
Great post here

In the poll I posted Leslie Frazier got zero votes. Before Frazier became a HC, he was one the most sought after candidates in the NFL. Now no one wants him

I already provide examples.

Do your own doomscrolling through twitter rumors, regurgitated “insiders”‘opinions, and, by all means, the comments posted for the first time ever righter here on The Zone.

I’d love to see the list of all of the “incentive based deals you are somehow referencing

As to current history, am I the only one left on this board that was 100% in favor of coaches and players being forced to work through their contract? But now, somehow McCarthy is getting screwed.

Lol

ty. Btw, did we just see what we needed on Johnson? According to the TV experts BJ is a guru but thats not what we saw in a crucial game last night. He was befuddled and the mustard came off the hotdog. Then Glenns D just got exposed because they were on the field too long. AG's D is only effective when the offense stays on schedule and does its job.

I don't care what excuses are used. Play off football is tough.

Jerry said it. Sorry if you missed it but I’m not digging it out for you.

Todd Archer reported that the interview lasted over 4 hours and people in the building were super impressed with him.

Just FYI

I think they will probably interview Glenn, then go with Saleh. There has been no request to interview Kingsbury, so I dont think he is on their radar.

The only two other guys that could enter the fray are Belichick and Carroll. If they were in consideration, they would have been from day 1 and the media would have been all over it

If they are waiting on KM it has a high probability of being another 3 weeks. That’s just dumb

this is who I want. This team needs to get tougher. More intimidating.
