Did you object to the Beastie Boys Getting in?

Nope not at all. I'm a huge BB fan as it is. They had both longevity and innovation.

N.W.A. had influence on the music that came after them but the lack of longevity, for me, would keep them out. Also think you could argue Dre and Cube did more and innovated more after the group.

The list just keeps on getting worse year after year.....
The Smiths? Really lol........must be a critics favorite to give a crud band like this a nomination.
NiN......Jeesh cmon......half of their "songs" sound like they were composed in a garbage can and sung by Oscar the grouch.
Janet Jackson really? Whos next after her, Pebbles? Jodi Watley?
The JB's .....who?
Chaka Khan lol cmon...................

At this point they need to bulldoze the joint and start over.........

alright, I did miss this...
did you say who? to the JB's???? Not you, not you!

Shimmy sham... Shimmy sham!!

Hall and Oates... Tidbit from their acceptance speech
: “And speaking of Philadelphia, you know, I did some research, and did you know that we’re the only homegrown Philadelphia band that’s been put in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Now, I’m not saying that because I’m proud of it — I’m saying that because it’s ****ed up. What happened to Todd Rundgren? The Stylistics? The Delfonics? Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes? Len Barry? Chubby Checker? How about the biggest single in the history of the world? Chubby Checker. Why isn’t he in? You guys tell me. I’m calling everybody out. That’s all I got to say. I wanna go play.”

I'm interested to know where people think Rock N' Roll started if groups like the JB's, & Chubby Checker isn't in the "Rock N' Roll" Hall of Fame.

Deep Purple are now the biggest snub since Rush got in a few years ago.

They should be in for this riff alone

Janet Jackson is rock n roll? lol.

If you knew anything rock and roll is derived from R&B which is the music that Janet sings and performs. How bout do a little research and find out that rock and roll is not pick up a guitar and play it and that that's. It's a little deeper than that but people like you will just say hey 'Janet Jackson rock n roll? no way' and be done with it.

Here I'll do it for you. Here's a start:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origins_of_rock_and_roll

Maybe after reading that you and some of the others in here can learn something about your favorite words 'rock and roll'

You TELLING ME to do a little research? lol! You know nothing about me or the music I grew up on. Janet Jackson is rock and roll. That's your definition, not mine or others here. Put me on ignore, as I will with you from now on.

Could be one of the worst posts I've read in a while. Wow you absolutely have no clue. The Smiths a crud band? Wow no. Janet Jackson I say is quite a bit better and more influential than Pebbles and Jodi Watley . She's got more hits, records/albums sold, and awards won than probably every person on this year's list combined.
Being that you've never heard of the JB's tells me all I need to know about how much music you don't know, Chaka Khan was very good as a solo artist and with Rufus, oh you probably don't know who that is either. Do us all a favor and stop commenting about music because you don't know **** about it.

The RRHOF should be reserved for the best of the best.
So your telling me the Smiths, JJ and CK all deserve to be in with the likes of the Stones, Zeppelin and Floyd....gotcha.

As for the rest of your mumbo jumbo....please put me on ignore.

Well those are the best of the best. Just because you don't think they are doesn't mean everyone shares your opinion. That's what makes the world go round. There are people that love JJ, CK, the Smiths and can't stand the Stones, Zeppelin and Floyd.

Yeah I just did and you obviously still didn't but that's ok it doesn't matter. I presented you with FACTS and you can't deal with that. That's not my problem. And btw that's not my definition. How in the world do you think that could be my definition.

Sure they are.....
Now please tell me why do the Smiths belong in such stellar company? Actually don't answer that as there is no explanation that holds water. The bottom line is they do not belong in there, ditto for Janet J , Joan Jett, Madonna, Green Day, etc. The HOF was and has been diluted long ago. It should be reserved for the "greats" not the "goods" or the "pretty goods".
At the rate they are ushering in acts I look for the Starland Vocal Band to be inducted by 2020.

Zeppelin, the Stones are some of the most thieving groups of all time. I like both of them but they borrowed heavily from the blues. If it was up to you there would be like 4 groups in this HOF so it's a very great thing that it isn't up to you and your narrow minded music views.

The Smiths were very influential to groups like Oasis, The Stone Roses and the Libertines. I'm sure you've never heard of these groups with your narrow musical tastes of nothing exists outside of the Stones and Zeppelin. They have a very good discography in the 80s that appear on multiple greatest albums of all time lists. If you don't know about the Smiths as I've said in this thread DO THE RESEARCH. It's not my fault that you don't know or care to know about the Smiths. If you feel they aren't worthy well who cares. You aren't the authority on who does and who doesn't belong in the RRHOF and thank God for that. Go listen to the Stones and Zeppelin on a loop now. Goodbye.

So if one band influenced a couple of others they deserve to be in , gotcha.:muttley:

Using this same flawed logic we can expect every boy band from the Monkees onward to be inducted as well. And since along the way Rupert Holmes surely influenced a soul or 2 lets put him in as well.:lmao: I am not sure what to laugh at first, your sad argument that they should be in the HOF or the faux anger in your posts as well as your obvious Napoleon complex.
You sound like a little child whose favorite band has been insulted and you lash out in anger.

Yeah if a one band influenced others then I would say that is pretty significant.Just stop man at this point I'm really wasting my time going back and forth with you. Good Lord you don't know anything about music. Instead of going back and forth with me on the legitimacy of the Smiths, there's this site called google where you find out about the Smiths and how influential they are.
