Yeah if a one band influenced others then I would say that is pretty significant. I'm really wasting my time going back and forth with you. Good Lord you don't know anything about music.

So again using your flawed logic we can assume that since Poison did obviously influence a band or 3 on the sunset strip they deserve to be in as well right?

Hey, every rose has it's thorn you know.

If you've never seen it you need to check out Dave Chappelle and John Mayer doing Every Rose on YouTube. It's awesome.

I'd also like to throw my 2 cents in on the Smiths...they freaking suck.

I don't get how the Smiths could be a HOF group either. And you have folks like Neal Sedaka, Chubby Checker and Connie Francis who aren't in there.

CNN)This year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees include some familiar faces and one star who has just returned to the scene.
Janet Jackson, N.W.A, Nine Inch Nails, Chicago, the Smiths, and Cheap Trick are just a few of the acts vying to enter the Class of 2016. They are joined by Chic, Deep Purple, Chaka Khan, Yes, The J.B.'s, Los Lobos, Steve Miller, The Spinners and The Cars.
A few of the performers have been nominated before, including the group Chic, which has now been tapped 10 times without yet having been inducted.

People can dislike NIN all they want, but they were/are the most successful industrial rock band of all-time. Trent Reznor is incredibly creative and NIN's music is/was innovative and influential. If rap/hip-hop groups are considered, then NWA was certainly influential and innovative enough to merit consideration. I think the Cars are also deserving. Again, there is a group who was unique and influenced many bands. I'm a huge Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones fan, but most groups are not them so people probably need to be more open-minded when considering HOF candidates. It was a joke that Sabbath took so long to get in BTW.

I'll pass on anything involving John Mayer.

I don't get the Smiths either. Over the years I've heard about how they were supposed to be this good band but they do just suck. I know there are those who probably like them. But I don't get it.

How is this different than any other year since the 1st inductees? It's not. I don't think it's really about Rock N Roll as a genre. Rock N Roll is such a broad term. They need to rename it to the Music hall of fame or something like that. I feel like they wanted to use Rock N Roll as a cool name for it even though it's intention obviously is not to just induct rock n roll artists exclusively. They've been inducting artists from many different genres of music since it's inception.

Why not put those guys in the country music hall of fame then?
