The only question this year is who will Stern decide goes to the finals from the East. Celtics or LeBron. Everyone knows the Lakers with their director of officiating coach are already guaranteed the finals.

i think its lebrons turn, but i guarantee you david stern will change his mind if the kevin garnett somehow comes back

NBA refs have been giving the Lakers games for awhile now.

The 2 worst officiated series i've ever seen were Kings vs Lakers where the Kings had the better team but the officials did everything they could for the lakers to win.

The other was Mavs vs Heat. There had to be some kind of behind the scenes conspiracy on that series.

Name 1 bad call in the LA/Sac series that went LA's way. I ask Sacramento Queens fans that all the time. Never get an answer, I just get the entire series. They also like to pretend that the ball didn't go out of bounds off of Webber in game 5, and that Kobe wasn't intentionally food poisoned before game 2. If Kobe doesn't get food poisoning, that series is a sweep.

Mavs Heat game 5 was the worst officiated game ever.

i dont know man, if you look at video of it, he keeps messing with his head, there is absolutely no signs of anything on it then, all of the sudden, it starts bleeding? i mean if he really hurt himself during the collition he would at least be a little red in the head before he started bleeding, but im telling you, there was absolutely no sign of any scratch on his head before hand. i went back on my cousins DVR and looked at it like 5 times, and he has a 1080P 52 inch tv, it was pretty clear.

no bandwagon jumping here, i dont mind the rockets and i hate the lakers. its not like im cheering for the rockets over the spurs next year

i never said ron artest was a saint. But he did get the short end of the stick last night. he got elbowed in the neck, got a foul and ejection for it, solely based on his past.

When you threaten to kill somebody you will get tossed out of a game. Don't be surprised to see Ron meltdown more.

Fisher should be suspended.

threaten to kill someone?

A) he was showing the refs what kobe had done to his neck
B) the jesture was after he had been ejected

he didnt deserve to get tossed, they only did it because of who he is and because of his past. on your latter statement, i could very easily see that happening, specially if kobe starts going off again, he might get frustrated and do something stupid

You do realize that blood doesn't always gush out of you when you get cut/scratched, don't you? And if he was touching his head, he was probably wiping blood away.

I'm sure he didn't have time to think "I better scratch my head so it looks like I'm hurt too." That's some extreme tinfoiling you got goin on there.

I doubt if Artest is threatening to kill Kobe here...

Artest is probably just telling him that he's going to do to the same thing to Kobe that Kobe did to that girl in Colorado!

what? if you get scratched and your gonna bleed, you dont "gush blood out" like you said, but your skin gets red and irritated before hand. he was touching his head away from the spot that was miraculously bleeding in the next frame. if you can, look at the replay, when did scola even touch his head? never!, i looked at it over and over again, and im not 100% sure thats what happened but from what i saw it looked as if he might have done it, and frankly, i wouldnt put it past that D bag to do something ridiculous like that

Actually they are saying he verbally threatened to kill him. Not the jesture.

Yeah, probably to see how much of his head was bleeding. Why would he be touching the spot away from the bleeding area if he scratched himself?? He would know where he scratched himself right? And are you suggesting that he did it to himself because you didn't see his head red and irritated before it was bleeding? LULZ

You don't think Scola hit Fisher's head? Did you watch Scola's reaction on the ground? He held his nose/mouth area. I guess he was in on the conspiracy too.... unless you think Fisher put his shoulder into the much taller Scola's grill.

What in the world has Fisher ever done to deserve this degree of venom? Is it that three pointer he hit against your Spurs? Poor baby.

NBA suspends Fisher, Alston for 1 game

NEW YORK (AP) - The Los Angeles Lakers won't have Derek Fisher for Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series, but Kobe Bryant will be in the lineup because the elbow he threw at Ron Artest landed just low enough.

Fisher and Orlando's Rafer Alston were both suspended one game by the NBA on Thursday for separate incidents in playoff games the previous night. The league also assessed Bryant a flagrant foul one penalty for elbowing Artest during the second half of the Lakers' testy victory over the Houston Rockets.

However, Bryant was not suspended because the league ruled he elbowed Artest in the chest area. Had it been above the shoulders — and Artest said it was his neck — the Lakers All-Star likely would have been banned from the arena Friday.

"It's clear in our rules that we treat elbow contact above the shoulder area differently than we do other parts of the body," NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Stu Jackson said on a conference call.

Contact above the shoulders wouldn't have guaranteed a suspension, but would have caused Jackson to take a closer look at the review to determine if the elbow was deliberate.

"It's not cut and dry because certainly there have been players that have been hit in the head with elbows that we haven't necessarily suspended those players because we felt it was inadvertent or part of a basketball play that in some cases was unavoidable," Jackson said. "Certainly in this case, had he made contact in his head area, certainly we'd be evaluating it on a different level."

The two suspensions Jackson did hand out were both easy calls.

In the Magic's 112-94 loss on Wednesday night, Boston's Eddie House was celebrating after making a shot when Alston reached out and slapped him in the back of the head. Each received a technical foul after standing face-to-face for a few seconds before referees intervened.

Jackson said Alston would have been ejected if the referees had seen the slap.

Later Wednesday night, Fisher was called for a flagrant foul when struck the Rockets' Luis Scola, who was setting a pick, with his shoulder and head as the Rockets brought the ball up the court. He was ejected.

Both players will miss games on Friday. The Magic are at home, tied 1-1 with Boston, while the Lakers will be in Houston in a series that is also tied 1-1.
