Rogue One. 11am tomorrow

I didn't like the Force Awakens and it was down to Daisy Ridleys terrible performance. Found it strange they would cast someone similar for the next movie (slim, young, English posh totty) and had similar problems with this one. Her supporting cast we good for the most part but she left me cold. There is a scene near the end with a blaster pointing at her that should be Luke confronting Vader levels of dramatic but she sounds like she's just reading from a page. Having just watched her in Inferno I'm blaming her for this but maybe it was the film makers, can't be sure.

Thought she was excellent myself. Each his own.

It could be that you just aren't a good judge of acting? Both ladies performed well (Jones moreso than Ridley).

Nah I'm a great judge of everything. You look at Carrie Fishers performance compared to these two and it's night and day.

Ha, one of the best things about the last two movies is how much better the acting has been than the rest of the SW movies. Fisher is no great thespian.

She's not but her character was three dimensional and showed passion. I really never thought I'd be praising it but these two have let their movies down. Next time you watch it check out the rebel meeting and how all the bit part characters shine way more than her flat delivery of every line.

She was prob trying to find what this place was about and just letting them do the talking. She showed a lot of passion talking about her father or the Saw guy she was brought up by, in those other scenes. Or talking about how the rebels need to act now and have hope. I guess people (you, I and others) have different viewpoints on what passion is or how actors portray them.

Ok they got faster than light
Speed capabilities, planetary shields, droids w AI and all their ship and base screens and monitors are monochrome crapola

Gotta keep something in tune with Star Wars a new hope. Can't make all the technology way ahead.

I want.to add that when he kept called his daughter " my stardust" it immediately made its way into the top 5 of cringe worthy Star Wars dialog. My top 3

1) Obi-Wan: I saw him.....killing younglings

2) Princess Amendalla (sp): Hold me like you did on Naboo

Just showing affection to his daughter. As for cringe worthy, all the prequel dialog takes the top.

I heard chuckling for about 3 rows the first time he said it. About 5 after he said it again lol.

I agree with prequel dialogue. If anyone did a list of all time cringe worthy Star Wars dialoge, Hayden Christiansen would have at least 15 entrys

15 Entries is nothing compared to the number Lucus would have for being a terrible dialog writer.

Yeah, it's #3 for me I think.

Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Rogue One

Edwards knocked it out of the park! The ultimate 'fan film'.

You should probably be thanking Tony Gilroy. He was the one brought in to rewrite and redirect reshoots of the film, including completely changing the ending. The studio liked what he did so much that they paid him 5mil (half what Abram's got for directing, writing and overseeing The Force Awakens) and gave him a role overseeing the writing for all future Star Wars projects.
