So busted twice for juicing in one offseason

Not juicing. He was suspended under the substance abuse policy, not the PED policy. For all we know (I haven't seen it reported), he could have tested positive for alcohol.

Antonio Gates and Sheldon Richardson were the ones who were juicing.

Explains why we have so many LBs.

Disappointed.

Had hoped he could see the need to keep within the rules and play the game.

Oh well..

Hitchens should get the first shot at the position if you ask me.

Since we know Lee can always move back in a pinch if needed.

I'm guessing they won't cut him but wait it out and see where he ends up as far as resting his injuries and seeing where the other guys progress.

But I am worried some now with all the guys we lost in the off-season.

LB again is a thin line.

Assuming Lee only plays 4...

So you're probably right.

People complain about Ro, and think Lee hung the moon. When on the field he did hang the moon, but he's never on the field. I love Lee, but Ro is a different animal. He's in my top 3 players now, Romo, Dez and he.

As I've said before, I don't care about off the field stuff, I am here to be entertained.

My thing is he got bust for something twice in the same offseason. Really doesnt matter to me what it was. Not only that it was a contract offseason for him. Shows me where his head is at and how reliable he is.

We knew what we had with Rolando, now we get it....but he comes in healthy wk 5 and ready to rock. A little Yin with your Yang.

Except it appears he doesn't like to work too hard, so he'll likely come in week 5 nowhere near game shape. Probably get hurt as a result or have to take some additional time off for 'personal reasons' again. His next failure will result in a year ban, unless it's pot and he'll only get 10 games. But think how fresh he'll be when he gets back.

I care about off the field stuff when it keeps him, you know, off the field.

And it doesn't seem to be pot, at least it wasn't when he got fined. Because according to the NFLPA site where they have the drug policy pdf if you get popped for pot the first disciplinary action is a 2 game fine. It is a 3 game fine if you successfully cleared stage 1 and a 4 game fine if you did not make it through stage 1 for the other substance abuse drugs. But in either case pot is only listed as a 2 game fine.

I think it may actually have been 3 times. Maybe I misread the pdf but it seems the first time you get caught you go into stage 1. That's where Gregory is now. That seems to last for 90 days and then you if you fail again you get fined, followed by a suspension for subsequent failures. The fine is determined by substance and whether or not you successfully cleared stage 1. A 4 game fine indicates he got himself into stage 1 and then got caught a second time before finishing stage 1. Then the 4 game suspension was for the third failure.

Disappointing but not at all surprising. He is lucky to even have a job in the NFL, and this very well could be his final shot so it's really sad that he would get this suspension. He better come out and set the world on fire after this suspension or he might just be seeing his final days in this league... it's not like teams were breaking his door down before this came out.

The more I think about it the more I think Ro is just done. He apparently failed a test to get into stage 1, then within 90 days he failed a second test and got fined. That was announced February 21 (and it said in the article that was for a THIRD failed test, but I'm not sure how reliable that is). Now 5 months later he fails yet ANOTHER test. Sorry, it seems like the guy has a problem that's not going away.

Oscan did the same thing. Athletes love drugs!! This isn't anything new in football dating back.

Oscan was different because it was MDMA and the amphetamine component resulted in a PED failure. Had the amphetamines not been in the ecstacy he took he would have only gone into stage 1 and not even been fined. That was a single failure which resulted in a 4 game suspension, McClain has at least 3 failures to reach the same penalty.

If it's for weed, this is getting ridiculous around sports. It will be legal within the next 5 years. Let these guys live their lives, good grief. Might as well start suspending people for beer.

Legally has nothing to do with employment terms. It may be legal in 5 years but most companies will still require you to pee clean to be hired.

McClain is the eternal prospect. Much better athlete then he is a football player. Puts it together for a few games, hits the wall, gets hurt, gets in trouble. Its not Oakland its him

He is that guy that will fool you for a little while into thinking he has changed. The the cycle starts all over.

He will always be " F' Yall"

I'm beginning to believe you are correct.

Is this enough of an issue for the team to release him and move on?

What do his defenders have to say about this?

Well not a defender , but I would not say cut him over this.
With his knee surgery recently, it might be good he sits 4 early games.

Plus it depends on what they have to pay him and what all was in his contract.
This may mean they pay him less on incentives.
If a certain amount was G then better to keep him.
They just need to work closely with him.

I would still try to play him this year and depending how it goes dont have him back next year.
He sounds like he is bi-polar , and needs a shrink and some meds.
