It's been 4 1/2 months since he was fined for failing a drug test. That fine was for 4 games because he had not successfully completed stage 1 following his first failed drug test. Stage 1 is 90 days. That means he has failed at least 3 drug tests in the last 7 1/2 months. And we know the second failure was not for pot because it was a 4 game fine instead of a 2 game fine.

That is exactly what happened.

1st fail- warning, enter program
2nd fail- 2 game fine
3rd fail- 4 game fine
4th fail- 4 game suspension
5th fail- 10 game suspension
6th fail- 1 year suspension

o I see, so he likes the weed !
4th fail since he signed with cowboys or during his career??
If with cowboys then that is bad.
The next one is a biggie!
So if he has G $ in contract and does not want to play he can just fail one more and sit home and get high, watch the games on tv . and collect
some $ for it.

When they said he went home to rehab , they also said he had to deal with some personal issues.
So....No ......Ro

Most companies put you on probation if you fail a drug test and a second fail is termination.

McClain has 3 fails within the last calendar year. If he worked anywhere besides the NFL he would have been fired already

If it's for weed, this is getting ridiculous around sports. It will be legal within the next 5 years. Let these guys live their lives, good grief. Might as well start suspending people for beer.

Wait until you find out that they actually do suspend people for alcohol.

I'm kinda wondering why some people are in denial about the fact that McClain is unreliable. I mean it's pretty much common knowledge, but you still have some folks that are like "huh? McClain is unreliable? He's a knucklehead? Show me proof or it's not true. Knee jerk. Blah blah". I don't think he should be cut or anything, but I think we can all at least admit that McClain's commitment is questionable at best.

Or a comment I saw earlier about how our LB corp is thin/has no depth without McClain. LOL I mean, were you in a coma this offseason? You guys are funny.

The knee jerk reactions will be strong in this thread. Should be a good one.

...and just think, some say they didn't want him to fail. I beg to differ.

Ro is quoted as saying "it won't happen again". It's happened 4 times Ro! I guess I want it for you more than you want it for yourself. I'm devastated. But, the show must go on.

No one wanted him to fail. Some didnt want to have to put any faith in him.

Is smoking weed really consider a demon. Funny, it will be legal everywhere within 5 years.

Alcohol is legal. Tell the millions of alcoholics all over the world that legal drugs can't be demons.

Aw, Ro. Four years at the Sorbonne and this is what we get?
Muggles will get you nowhere esept a one-way ticket to Palookaville. Then one day you wake up, surrounded by marihuana needles and people hanging around in the hallway drinking Red Bull and wearing tank tops.

I laughed out loud when I saw "marihuana needles". :lmao2:

Yep, I can see how a packers fan would want that

Lol I feel like I'm out of the loop. Why is everyone accusing @perrykemp of being a Packer fan?

I don't blame McClain because, you know, he played for the Raiders and these things happen. Now, when he gets to the Cowboys, things will be better because he never had a chance to be successful in Oakland. Things will be different in Dallas.

Blah blah blah cut him this cut him that. Stupid. His talent far outweighs what we're paying him. It would be so stupid to cut him. For what?

This.

I'm so glad the FO doesn't run this team the same way a lot of these fans would.

Is Ro a knucklehead? Yes, obviously.

Is he the most dependable guy on the roster? Clearly not.

Does cutting him right now, because this news broke, help our football team? Hell no.

Our FO needs to keep making good FOOTBALL decisions, the way they have been the last few offseasons. Ro proved he can play at a high level in this defense. He can still be a major contributor to our success this year. Cutting him now DOES NOT HELP US, and accomplishes nothing.

Maybe the team will decide to cut ties with him at some point. And that point may very well be sooner rather than later (Ro is clearly not going to he here long-term), but cutting him now would just be dumb.

you take a few hours off to have a few beers, and THIS is the breaking news, not any long-term, deal with Dez, not a Hardy decision

you can't make this stuff up....Dallas will be in the spotlight ALWAYS...

Dude should be cut. No one person's selfishness is bigger than the team. Send a message. People like Gregory might learn from his mistakes.

That's a policy flaw, and especially for a guy like McClain.
After the 4 game fine, there was no incentive (in his unmotivated mind anyway) to play 4 games for free.

Players who help win titles understand that the incentive is playing for your teammates, your brothers.

I will wait for the whole story to come out, but we are certainly NOT thin at LB. if Ro has a story or a sincere apology for his teammates, I'm okay with that. If he's just a selfish, team destroying guy, then you have to let him go when is a relief for the locker room
