Your final attempt to explain it to me? You speak as if you are an authority in the situation when you are as clueless as one could possibly be. You are just another gullible fan who has fallen for the NFL's cowardly attempts to undermine the CBA.

Let me explain it to you:
They do not have to show up.
They are not expected to be there.
They do not have to have an excuse.
They cannot be punished, fined, or retaliated upon in any way for not attending.

And yes, teams have been fined and had practices canceled for this very thing. So again I ask you, What should Jerry have done?

First thing I would do is ask the head coach whether he wants to stand for this. And if the head coach said no I would have never signed him. 2nd thing I would have done was probably draft a guy that was going to actually play this year and definitely next year at MLB. 3rd thing I would have done was drafted more for defense or signed a guy in FA that was going to show up and not quit or retire whenever he felt like it.

Now if I was dumb#$@ Jerry Jones and I didnt do all those things then I might have just signed the guy for one more year until Smith comes in. But I definitely wouldny have spouted to the media that he has a side deal and make up excuses for him and make my head coach look bad.
