You can argue til the cows come home, but at night when you’re alone with your thoughts, you know I’m right about how they were a team that did nothing but disappear when it counted most.

And #9 is the poster boy for that awful time period.
Disappeared no more than this team.

The difference is that this QB is still healthy into his 8th season and Romo had 3 or 4 of unimaginably bad defenses and olines....so he took the beatings of all beatings. And, of course, the rules didnt quite protect the QB then as do now...even if they protected way more than in the 90s or before.
Cut his career a bit short.

Dak and crew have a chance now to go further.
But up until now they've done nothing more than they did in the Romo years. In fact, identical playoff records.
If you want to say both 7-8 year eras were the dark ages...fine.

But maybe we come out of it now
Hopefully

Are you an adult?
Willie, we’ve run circles on this topic, and you still can’t admit Dak could possibly be better than your beloved Romo.

He could win two or three rings, and you’d stay dug in.

Your loyalty is admirable but misguided.

That’s some weird equivocation on “dark ages”.

Also, those teams were repeatedly grilled in the media for overrating their talent.
Lost our last game in Texas Stadium...lost our first game in our new stadium...lost 3 straight division play-in games . Awful era. I could go on and on. Glad it's over. Now Dak hasn't done any better but he has a chance. Romo's era is done thank God.

I literally addressed this earlier in the thread.

Your insults are unnecessary

Ok.

Weeden played in 4 games in 2014. 1, he finished because Romo got hurt. Not counting that one bc he got hurt. Next game he started and played the whole game.

He played in 2 other games in blowouts. Romo last play in 1 was around 12 minutes left, the other 8:46. So, your right...he gets credit for a half a game of plays.

Still not the 2+ Dak gave up, but worthy of mentioning.
You put in all that effort to try and explain away Weeden and then just glibly make claim that Cooper Rush played the equivalent of 2+ games.

Shuddup.

Rush had a total of 69 snaps in 2023. He attempted just 24 passes and you’re claiming Dak didn’t play in the equivalent of 2+ games, luuulz.

In 2014, Weeden had 92 snaps and attempted 41 passes.

All this thread proves is that the Romo fans will never ever change their minds and that they will take their ifs and buts to their graves, just like the fans of Danny White, Dan Marino, Fouts, Rivers, etc.

Good luck with all that.
Romo fans are the kings of excuses. He gets the most "ifs ands and buts" of any player I know in sports. Instead of judging him for what he was, which was an inconsistent gunslinger who was 0-3 in divisional games and just never measured up in the big moments. Yes, fun to watch and made the most of bad play breakdowns. They place him in scenarios that never exist such as "he could have easily won a Super Bowl with the 2016 Dak rookie team!". How can you even begin to argue something that never happened? Makes no sense.

Dak is also 0-3 in divisional games but the difference is, he gets zero excuses. In fact, quite the opposite.

You don't think that 2014 Lions team is comp[arable to this Packers team?
Not even close. That Lions team was way better. I thought the Lions outplayed us. We still eked out the win.

Not so long ago this packers team lost to a Tommy DeVito led Giants team and the Bucs at home. Was in a shootout with the Panthers.

Cowboys lost to the Cardinals...mind you the Packers have been suffering injuries to all their best players. That Lions team was nothing. They may have almost beaten us but they shouldn't have. I mean maybe they were better my point was they were the same caliber. Lions were not favorites to win anything just like the Packers aren't. Was a young team at the time. Some parallels. Cowboys had no business barely squeaking by them.

Do we get the 2014 O-line/DeMarco with 2014 Romo?

If so, give me that with this current defense and S/T.

If not, give me 2023 Dak.

You are really not following are you?

We already KNOW Romo played 15 games. Why would we count the one that we already know he didn't play? lol

The tail end of the first game where he got injured was negligible.

My analysis is accurate. Weeden came in twice in blowouts during the 2014 season. Not the 7 times Rush did. Oh and you are proving the point when you are saying Rush had 2 games worth of throws this year in garbage time....

Who do you think had a better season. Both were peak years that could have won MVPs but got beat out by the narrative. Dak gets his chance to do what Romo couldn't do and beat the Packers. I'm going with Dak he has been lights out.

Romo - 3705 yards 34 TDs 9 Ints
Dak - 4516 yards 36 TDs 9 Ints
I will let you know after the NFC Championship game. However, Dak Prescott has never had a losing season finishing the year as the Cowboys starting QB.

So let me get this straight....Tony put up Dak numbers WHILE splitting half the offense with the #1 RB and it's not as good? Lol, ok.

Lets not forget how many quarters Dak has set out due to us blowing the other team out.

GIVE ME DAK. "HERE WE GO".

2014 was a ball control physical team that ran the ball and dominated TOP. Demarco, Witten, Dez all physical.

This year was more of a finness team that relied on the pass and big plays.

The difference?

The defense especially this year’s pass defense. Romo never had that luxury.

Romo was a celebrity QB who didn't have the mindset to be a champion, and had the soul of a clown. That's why he was a choker.

Dak wants to win, and despite my criticisms of his play, I have never felt that Dak didn't care enough about being a champion like I know Romo didn't.
