What an awesome explanation. I love stuff like that. I hate to be a pain in the neck (pun intended) but now my question is it seems obvious that complete immobilization is unrealistic with out the surgery because he's already throwing the ball around in pre game warmups.

Therefore is the surgery being considered to protect Tony from Tony?

Somewhat.

Surgery will be much more likely to yield a solid union, uninterrupted by movement.

In Tony's defense, he may have elected the conservative route to eliminate the chance of infection or other surgical risks.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo broke his left collarbone twice this season and he’s done it three times over the course of his career, leading him to consider ways that he can protect himself against suffering the same injury again in the future.

During an interview on 1310 The Ticket, Romo said that one of the possibilities up for discussion is attaching a plate to his collarbone during a surgical procedure.

“We have a few ideas of what we can do with the collarbone,” Romo said, via the Dallas Morning News. “There are a few plans. We’re going to pick out the CT scan and some of the other stuff and see how much calcification has taken and whether it’s gotten to a point where we feel like it’s really strong and it will be able to handle some of the normal hits you take. But we’re going to have a good plan. If we have to put a plate in there, something small, we’ll do that. That should ensure that that doesn’t happen, or the percentage of that goes way, way down. From my perspective, I feel very strongly about the way that I’m going to be able to play going forward.”...

Romo has one option to 100% guarantee that he'll never injure his collarbone again.....RETIRE.....that's it. You're not 25 years old Tony and this team has a lot more problems than just you being out. We're years behind teams like the Panthers and Cards right now, and that's not even considering coaching. Quit throwing yourself on the grenade for this horrible coach and GM and go enjoy your wife, kids and golf.....

Man, that's a lot to go into. Maybe he really does need to consider retirement.

If the goal is to have Romo 100% healthy for next years playoff run or bust, then he should go it and take all the "European therapies" allowed. Stem cell injections, hgh ect.

While I agree that the Cards are further along than we are, their QB is the same age as ours and we all saw how that train went when he got hurt last year.

As far as the Panthers are concerned, they are the biggest frauds in the league, imo.

I'm getting tired of romo falling on his sword routine

Go out there and win something or be quiet

Oh and please don't tell tom Brady you will see him in February

Just do it

Well he is the only one that can go out there and win something

Neither the coaches or the players showed any ability to win jack without him, see 1-10 without Romo

I obviously made a very bad attempt at sarcasm. I somewhat agree about the Panthers but the Cards are a well rounded, well coached team. I think they'd be much better without Palmer this year than last. Not saying they could win it all but they're pretty deep.....

I'm so torn on what Romo should do. Part of me wants him to come back and lead us to the Promised Land. Part of me wants him to have a happy, healthy retirement and life with his family. Part of me wants him to do one and then the other which might be too much to ask.

Was just thinking that...might as well have....full skeletal body replacement...Tony Terminator, or Robo Tony....broken bones an issue with him, no soft tissues. well the herniated disk, but if better bones, it may not have happened....

Didn't Wolverine's full skeletal frame get replaced by metal?

He's only broken it twice.

Internal fixation will not prevent fractures when a 300# DL dude lands forcefully on the player with his upper body perpendicular to the ground.

The non-union second injury this year has probably now resulted in a bit of displacement that provided less that ideal contact and alignment.

Should have probably had the surgery in October.

I believe it has been broken 3 times (twice 2015) (once in 2010).
