I think you might be giving philly a little too much credit. I wouldn't be surprised if half that team is already on mental vacation at this point. I also wouldn't be surprised if our guys come out ready to kick some ***.

I would, Philly had no incentive last week against the Giants yet they played hard & won and the Cowboys are their most hated rival who they'd love nothing more than to end their disappointing season with a win against.

They have nothing to lose by playing everyone (except for the rare catastrophic injury) and Wentz needs all the reps he can get. I see them going balls out and if given the chance, I think Philly would pour it on.

If Dallas was somehow able to jump on them quickly by 21+ points, then maybe the quit would start to show in the giggles but I'd be really surprised if that happened

If this was a road game vs Jacksonville, I could see that.
At home vs Dallas. I think they'll be really eager to stick it to us.

Also, besides the rivalry, I think people are wanting to make an impression on other fronts
--DC Jim Schwartz is in the running for some HC jobs. He'll have the defense amped up.
--this is Pederson's 1st year as HC. He wants to see who will play until the last snap going forward.
--Plus they set up many of the players with incentive-laden deals.

Well, there goes any trade value we might of had. I hope he realizes this could end his career.

So if Romo gets injured, we're out of luck. Maybe Jerry thinks the chances of Romo playing well outweigh any potential injury.

You bring up a fair point regarding their game against the Giants. They did play hard. In reality, I don't have a clue how fired up (or not) they'll be for this game. I am pretty certain, though, that our guys will be mentally and physically ready for this game...that's just the way they are. This game will likely be like an exhibition game in that the deeper the game goes, the more obscure the player names on the field become.

You (and others) may very well be right. I can't argue with anything you said. I can also see the other scenario, though, where a lot of them are ready to go fishing and just want to get out of the game healthy and go home. No matter what, I just want us to get through the game injury free. That's my only real concern. After that, a win would be nice! :)

In politics this is what is known as a "Trial Balloon". Leak to the press that a thing is going to happen well before that thing is scheduled to happen.

Judge the reaction.

If the reaction is positive, you can move forward depending on other factors.

If the reaction is negative or not what you expected, you cancel the plan.

And since the source of the leak is anonymous, you have plausible deniability that it never was credible information to begin with and can issue a statement at your convenience.

Or not.

So we'll see where this goes.

But politics is, almost by definition, all about public perception. How the FO runs this team isn't all about public perception. The Death Star is a money maker forever, so I don't think Jerry is as concerned about the public as he once was.

I'm so happy right now. Even if it's for a series or two with reserves, this is incredible. For everything Tony has given this franchise it's so great to get to see him play this year.

As for how this affects his potential trade value, its probably nothing more than a few series so anything other than injury wont effect it at all. Unless somehow he comes out guns blazing and is perfect while scoring TDs with reserves.

I just want to see Tony get blasted, and get up. I already know he can play.
Why for Heaven's sake do you want Romo to get up? Why do you want his critics suffering aneurysms? Heartless. :(

If that were true, then why did Jerry stir the pot of the QB controversy even after Romo's concession speech?

He basically admitted he did it because controversy generates more press and more public interest in the Cowboys and thus more money for the Cowboys franchise.

Not saying this is the same thing as that.

But we'll know a lot more by Sunday.

I really wish there was a fast forward button for this season. Just for this week anyway.
