Romo is good and is ready to take over

What impressed me most was his mental awareness. He could sense when the pocket was closing or when he was tripped he stood back up and knew exactly where the receivers were.
 
I'm very comfortable with Romo if Bledso goes down. We need two good QBs on the team and I think we have them. I have no problem with Bledso leading this team BUT I think Romo can be just as good if not better as well. I like the QB situation that we have...

That's all one can ask since that is all the opportunity that he ahs had. He has to start somewhere and he has done well with every opportunity that he ahs gotten.

There will always be those naysayers who will belittle anything he does until he does it on a consistent basis in the regular season and some will continue until he does is consistently in the playoffs. Some will never like him no matter what he does.
 
I have been a football fan forever. You can say this was only a pre-season game, but Tony Romo has what it takes to be an NFL QB.

Regardless of what happens this year hopefully this means we don't have to spend a first round pick (or major FA money) on a QB in the next 2 years. That would be hitting jackpot.

Anyone think his delivery on a few passes look akward? And he had a sideline pass, looked a little slow, if a vet CB and one with speed, I thought it could have been picked for a TD, but was a completion, good for us. But it looked a little slow getting there.

Other than that, great job for 1st practice game.
 
I want to see Romo face a defense that is top of the line and playing its starters before I will make any judgements. I do not thing the first pre season game really will tell you much. We have had more then a few players shine early in the pre season and then are never heard from again. The anti-Bledsoe types need to be ignored since their bias blinds them to any other reality. I have never thought that Henson was going to amount to anything but since BP seemed to really like Romo I was willing to give him a shot; so far so good.

You've got that right... to not have to spend a first round draft pick on a QB or OT for the upcoming draft would be great IMO.
 
It's Bledsoe/Brady 2001 all over again. We could only be so lucky (except for Drew nearly dying, that is).

I see that you are given to a bit of overstatement yourself. No one said HOF so you can chill on that one.

As for his delivery...I thought he looked on target with all of his throws. He had to throw on the move several times which means that he could not use the classic step up and throw mechanics. But when he had time to stand in the pocket his mechanics looked good.

What impressed me was that regardless of his throwing motion his passes were on target. Except for the intentional throw aways I did not see him throw an uncatchable ball. Some of the catches might have been a little difficult but they are the kind you see made in almost every professional football game and professional receivers should be very capable of making them.

It's not a sure thing that Romo would accept a new contract from Dallas. He has shown the world what he can do against a Super Bowl team's first string (even if a few of its stalwarts were missing because of injuries or otherwise). If he is not assured a real chance to be the starter he may elect to take his talent elsewhere. At least to test the free agent waters.

If Jerry Jones doesn't shut the hell up with his negativity about him I would not blame him for moving on. Someone will pay him some pretty big bucks if we don't.

I was joking...about typical over reaction in all these Romo threads...I'm as chilled as can be.

However, I agree with you, as I was impressed also. I was just saying some of his harder throws, downfield (but on target) and the outs looked different (but that's what camps are for). Yes, he hit his targets, did what he's supposed to do. Avoided the bad plays. He got it done. No complaints here.
 
I did notice an unorthodox delivery at times (something Henson's been criticized for?). I was most impressed by the speed of Romo's decisions. Compared to Bledsoe, he seemed to make his reads quickly and get the ball out fast--hence, no sacks despite a few breakdowns.

It's funny how many are overreacting to any developments good or bad.
Romo played against a depleted Seattle defense that kept its first team on for less than a quarter and played vanila defense- nor disguised coverages, minimal blitzing, etc. And that means he's ready to be the starter? Turn down a contract extension? People, chill! He's an undrafted free agent from a small school who has not done anything in a real game. How many QB flamed out after a solid REAl NFL game, not preseason? Do you want a list?

Be happy that Romo looks like he might be a good back up if anything happens to Bledsoe.

And one that is more aggressive. Seattle was going through the motions because they were missing so many starters.
 
What I saw from Tony I liked. But like others have said way too early to pass judgement. I will say this he is heading the right way "if" he keeps getting better. Long ways to go, he does have a sense of pocket awareness you can't teach and he was too sure of where to go with the ball to ignore
