The Cowboys can carry Romo this year if they want to. How does that give other teams leverage?

I see it the exact opposite. You think teams considering Romo will go into the season with what they have at QB? Eventually, someone will call and check on Romo's availability. For example, you really think the Texans can sell Savage to their fan base for 2017. I don't. Oh I forgot, they have Weeden also. My bad.

Yes, Biggie, Keep glossing over Romo's age and fragility and pricetag. Reality is so inconvenient, innit?

It might be that the Texans have another deal in the works not involving Romo.

It also might be that the Texans and Romo have a plan as soon as it's a minute past midnight, May 31.
Then Romo learns a new system in Houston and by the second game its new pricey QB breaks a bone.
Then won't you and the Houston FO look sheepish.

No fairy tales here....I just don't put Romo ahead of the team like so many of the Romosexuals around here.....if he leaves I hope he fails.....you hope he beats us and wins a ring

lol.

You couldn't even finish that post without dabbling in make believe.

I find solace in remembering that at this exact time last year we were panicking about the fact we had an old, broken down Romo at QB with no future in sight.

This new QB situation is a very good problem to have.

You are the one that wants to be the Good Witch and makes sure everything is OK with Romo first

I'm fine with being the bad guy.....I wouldn't just give away a DE that was top 10 in the league because I drafted Myles Garrett.... I won't do it for Romo......do I care if he wants to start.....nope

If Romo has such an ego that he needs to be a starter somewhere new over a good teammate at his only home then screw him.....he didn't pay back any of the 34m he made over the last 2 years...... wouldn't that be part of the Do-Right mantra

So give me a break with fairy tale nonsense........ put on your big boy pants and we can talk like men

I like that. I'm going to tell my friends to start calling me Biggie instead of Big Dog from now on. After all these years it probably won't take.

That is disheartening.
Would you reconsider, BIGGIE BIG!

It has gold written all over it!!!!

Makes no sense. And replace him with who? You can't trade your franchise QB and have nobody behind him ready to start.
Makes a lot of sense. We could have traded him away for a 1st and 3rd or something like that. Then get a player like Alex Smith.. 49ers traded him away for like a 3rd rounder. And before you say Romo is better than Alex Smith, keep in mind Romo never got us past the wild card round of playoffs. So why on earth should we have paid him huge money? Chicago made the same mistake with Cutler. Sure, Romo was better than these 2 but still didn't have what it took to get us to the big game.

If I had it my way, Romo would have been traded long ago for high pick. Of course, the other GMs in the league aren't considering what I want so here we are. In case you aren't aware of the circumstances, what either of us wants doesn't make a bit of difference in the outcome so I really have no idea where you're trying to take this, "bad guy", routine. It's a bit odd considering that I haven't been outlining what I want to happen, just what I believe will happen.

You're acting like it just now occurred to you that Romo may be outright released. Take a step back and settle down.

OK so QBs are so valuable but no one wants to trade for Romo or pay Romo

Why buy the cow if you can get the milk for free?

Teams know Dallas is not going to carry a backup QB with a $24.7 million cap charge, so its just a matter of time till Romo is released. They can sit back and wait, no need to give up draft picks.

Geno Smith and Josh McCown didn't cost the Giants or Jets any draft picks.........that is what this entire saga is about, draft picks.

Maybe just maybe Dallas should have started him for the full g dam game against Philly to showcase him to the league, but no we had to rest all starters and go in half asleep vs GB on our home turf...BIG MISTAKE!

Agreed.............that game was a total botch by the organization.

Geno Smith and Josh McCown didn't cost draft picks because no one on Planet Earth considers them to be starting QBs, including their immediate family. Romo has been to four Pro Bowls, he doesn't belong in the same conversation as guys like Geno Smith.

Side note--

Looks like Romo has been kicked out of the Jason Garrett Get Along Gang:

The best thing for the Cowboys to do is simply wait. Something will happen over time in their favor if they do.

That's not the best thing for Romo if he still wants to start. Obviously.

But.........que sera sera, baby.

Because the cow and the milk belongs to someone else

You can sit around and hope for some charity or you can pay for the cow and milk it all you want

DAL can easily afford his entire 14m contract and 25m cap hit, that is no longer the narrative

Geno Smith....child please
