This team better let Romo go. He's way too good to be held hostage. He deserves to win a super bowl just like Dware. It's obvious we're not going to win one here with blowing up the defense and losing half of our OL. Let the man walk and go to a contender like Denver or Houston. He deserves better he doesn't want to be on a team with knuckleheads like Gregory , Elliott , Lawrence. Let him go and compete because this coach and front office aren't capable.

I was referring to the notion that if Romo retired some think Dallas would ask for part of guaranteed money paid back.

I don't think they'd ask for it.
As far as another team. I guess I dont see where theyd factor into that bonus paid out if Romo retired. And they would never trade for him if he was retiring.
All hypothetical anyway, as dallas will not trade him somewhere where he won't sign...so retirement would not be a factor.
If DAL trades him he can't just retire.......he would owe the new team 12.5m in unearned signing bonus money and they would go after it....Jerry may not go after it but Elway would

The trade would not take place if he is retiring.
Period
Imo

With this crap ? Nope . He's gonna go win one with a real coach and a real front office. Can't win with this dysfunctional organization.

In 2006 he hit witten on the goal line on 3rd down and witten couldn't even lounge forward 1 inch for a first down. Next play they have the starting qb who just drove a team 95 yards and they have him holding FG? *** who does that?

In 2007 he hit Clayton twice on the numbers (both on 3rd downs and he dropped them) he also hit Fasano right in the numbers in the end zone and he dropped it.

2014 he goes to GB has a 130 passer rating no turnovers. Murray fumbles with a wide open end zone to ice the game. 4th and 2 he throws a perfect pass to dez bryant who finds a way to bobble and come up with his BS clumsiness. THey lose.

He has done his job so many times and his team has always let him down. Now it's Daks turn and he's well on his way @ 0-1. ROmo deserves to go to a team that knows *** they're doing.

why does it mattered if it happened?

DAL owns his rights for 3 more years and can trade them to someone else

If Romo doesn't want to play there then he can retire or suck it up

pick one ......Eli has 2 .....Flacco has 1....Russell Wilson has 1.......Big Ben has 2
What Dallas Cowboys team was favored to win the Super Bowl?
None
The one team that at mid season seemed like a maybe was the 2007 team that faded. But the undeated Pats were by FAR the Super Bowl favorite. The Giants defense held them to 14 and pulled off the miracle. Good for them.

None of the orher Cowboy teams were even close..

But we are so far apart here, there no way it worth debating.

So you like Romo more than DAL.......good for you......he may have a couple years left
No but look at my username I don't believe in this franchise anymore. They've proven they can't draft DL. They've proven they can't do it for 21 years I'm sick of waiting. We go 13-3 and then they decide to rebuild so frustrating.

What would get traded would be the remaining portion of the contract only.
3 year, 54 mil, no guarantees.
The new team could cut Romo and owe him nothing.
Romo could retire and owe them nothing.

Just like the cap extra due (by Dallas only) to early bonus payments dont go to the new team in a trade. Neither do the contract credits that could asked for by Dallas

Not me ....... I loved going 13-3 ......if it happened without Romo so be it
I did too. It was fun but then reality set in the playoffs. Unprepared clapper on the sidelines. Proud of losing because the way they "fought". This franchise can't win with that mentality. That 13-3 team is long gone. Next season won't be anything close to 13-3.

MCCarthy (with the worse defense in the playoffs) took Garrett to the woodshead.

You are just plain wrong about this...... he signed a 6yr/108m extension covering 2014-2019

He has only played 3 years but got a 25m signing bonus.....that means 1/2 of that 25m hasn't been earned

The new team could file for 1/3 of 12.5m on reporting day for the next 3 years if he retires and stays retired
