I agree. People tend to forget that the Steelers won both of those Super Bowls riding a very good to dominant defense. That takes a lot of pressure off a QB.

Most teams/quarterbacks win Super Bowls with dominant defenses. Aikman won his Super Bowls with top ranked defenses - at least twice the No. 1 overall defense in the league.

Let's not minimize a quarterback's accomplishments just because he played with a dominant defense. A quarterback still has to make a play when it counts, and the Steelers weren't so dominant that they didn't let the Cardinals back in the game.

And the Cowboys made the Steelers defense look pretty average until we faltered down the stretch. :(

If Romo were on the team they probably wouldn't need a TD in the final seconds to win the game. Although I may be a homer, but I think Romo is a much better QB then Rapelisberger. I'm sure many would disagree with the homer label though.

The Steelers had an amazing D during their Super Bowl run that I think Romo could have done well with. That and their running game. Rapelisberger was throwing less than 20 times a game during that first Super Bowl run, and I have no idea how many times he threw during the second.

I'll admit I'm ignorant to the last SB run, but on the first one he didn't look impressive at all. It seriously wouldn't surprise me if he got brain damage from the motorcycle accident listening to him talk.

I think he's an above average QB, but I think Romo is better. Pardon my ramblings. I tend to do that from time to time.

Well their amazing d let them down against the cards. But ben brought them back with an incredible drive and last play to win it

It's pretty clear to me...just another attempt to quietly bash our starting QB.

It's all good. We're just speculating. No one knows for sure.

Although Big Ben played awful during his first Super Bowl, he played well during the playoffs, particularly the AFC Championship Game at Denver when he threw three touchdown passes and no interceptions.

Look, I'm glad we have Romo. I just think Ben is a better quarterback - stronger and taller. And while he doesn't have the numbers as some of the great quarterbacks like Brady and Peyton Manning, I think if he were in a system like those two, he would put up equal numbers. I compare him to Aikman in that he plays in a system that values defense and the running game over the passing game. But he has proven - like Aikman - if he needs to pass to win, he can do that also.

Having said that, I expect Romo to get better (I was never too down on him even in his early years when he was careless with the ball) and expect him to win at least one Super Bowl before his career is done.

Maybe 2-3 if we get some O-line help...:starspin

Big Ben career per year starter averages:
254.8 completions, 402.3 attempts, 63.48% completion, 3222.33 yards, 21.16 TDs, 13.5 INTs, 91.7 passer rating

Romo career per year starter averages:
294.5 completions, 464.5 attempts, 63.5% completion, 3761.25 yards, 26.75 TDs, 13.75 INTs, 95.6 passer rating

The most telling statistic:
Romo has been sacked a total of 99 times over 4 seasons. Big Ben has been sacked a total of 242 times over 6 seasons. Romo's 25.75 sacks/season compared to Big Ben's 40.33 sacks/season. That's a BIG difference, sacks can be attributed to both QB holding on the ball too long and to poor O-line play. You look at Big Ben who holds onto the ball a long time and has a slow release compared to Romo who has one of the quickest releases in the NFL. I'd take Romo's quick release and low penchant for sacks due to holding on to the ball.

I'll take Romo over Big Ben any day.

I have seen some say Bens wins with the running game... well guess what look at 08.. they where 24th in Rushing.. If not for his arm and ability to extend plays and drive the team down field with what was the worst oline to win a superbowl ever. Not to mention his defense collapsed in the 4th QT vs Az in the superbowl.

ben is a monster... has takena beating and steeler fans should blame the Colbet for that. He needs a better oline. He is great when on the move... The teams that are sucessful vs him keep him in a box and don't let him run around.

ben has two rings. this is simple if you look at the body of work including playoff wins come backs and superbowls. Ben is better than Romo.

what does that really mean ? not much Staubach was better than Bradshaw but lost two superbowls to teams lead by Bradshaw.

Aikman had the No. 1 defense twice during his career, but only once when we won the Super Bowl. In our other championship seasons, the defense ranked 10th and ninth. We were No. 1 in 1994 but lost to the 49ers in the NFC title game.

10th and 9th are still pretty darn good defenses.

If that defense doesn't pick off Warner and run it back 99 yards for a td than Ben isn't bringing them back with anything.

This is very true. He did play well in that game at least. When he won the other ring, they won in spite of his horrible play.

There is luck involved in getting those rings. Ask Parcells how sweet it was when Buffalo missed the winning FG to give him his 1st ring. The guy makes it and Marv Levy has a ring....little to do with how he coached. The missed FG did not make Levy or Parcells better or worse coaches--same can be said for the Buffalo QB (Jim kelly, who never ended up winning one, but was great).

To expect to get any logical discussion on the topic where is pretty naive.

Frankly, I would take Romo. Get him a line and he will bring home the gold.

But truthfully there is such an emotional tie to Romo that even when you compliment him, you're slandered because you didn't get on board two years ago.

Good luck with this.

I pick Romo because he has yet to have a good WR corp and yet, has kept the Cowboys competitive. The Steelers (and Big Ben) have been successful because their defense was at its peak, and so was the offense.

Romo has yet to have a solid #1 and #2 and slot receiver to throw to. While Romo has had a pro bowl tight end, he's also had injured RBs.

The Cowboys are building thier defense to be Super Bowl contenders, and maybe are just one or two players away from that level.

On offense, Williams has to step up, or Ogletree has to have an "Austin" year, plus Crayton has to be that slot receiver like he was in the Eagles' games.

I've seen enough of Romo to feel he can take this team to the top.

Not true! Go Tigers! Of course I also pull for the Gamecocks and The Citadel. Not your usual Tiger fan though.

BEN R.

I feel both have good field vision, nice arms, accurate, escapability, smarts. Ben gets my knod cause he has something that cant be taught,SIZE. His size and toughness to sit and take the hit for the throw makes him a better QB as of now. Opinions?

I'll take Ben R. cause he has one of the WORST O-lines in the leauge and still manage to win a Super Bowl.
