After three games the Cowboy offense is 21 out of 35 on 3rd downs-- Which is an incredible 60% conversion.
Think about that number for a moment, A 60% success rate converting 3rd downs.
That number is just flat-out sick.
And how many times does this offense face a 3rd & 10 (or more) because of the penalties AND Romo still converts it for the first? It happens so often that we've come to expect it.
I get the feeling that many Cowboy fans still do not appreciate what they have in this guy.
If the Redsksins or Giants come from behind to beat a bad team at home by 1 point and their quarterbacks could complete less than 50 percent of their passes, their fans openly brag, "We're the best team in the NFL and are going to the Super Bowl."
Romo could throw for 6 touchdowns, 400+ yards with one interception that was returned for a touchdown and the Cowboys beat a really good team on the road 42 to 7, yet Cowboys fans would say, "If Romo doesn't protect the ball more, we won't win a Super Bowl."
The reality (pun intended) of the situation is that if you want a good robotic quarterback like Aikman, you get a guy who will throw few interceptions but every once in a while have a bad game with no chance to come back. Quarterbacks that are very disciplined almost always tend to be out of their element when down by 10 or more points late in the game.
With Romo you get a guy who will give you many highs and occasisionally a few lows. However, personally, as much as I liked Aikman's accuracy, I enjoy Romo's "Play Maker (II)" style much more.
I can say this .. with the choice between Aikman in his prime or Romo now and the Cowboys being down by 14 in the fourth quarter, I will gladly take Romo for the win.
