Stupid post.

He's a great QB but he's done plenty worthy of criticism.

Plenty?

Come on, when someone touches the ball every offensive play of the game there are going to be problems and error of course. Not all errors are worthy of criticism especially when you make up for them over and over and over again.

Again - last 20 games he is 16-4.

I would love for you to find out if Staubach or Aikman had a run like that!

I was just going to mention that we were 3 & 20 when Romo hit Austin for the 52 yard TD. The reality is that Romo does it so frequently we do take it for granted. There's a football joke that says no OC has a play when it's 3rd & 15+. I'd add that the Cowboys have a play and use it often. It's called "hike the ball to Romo & he'll make the throw for even more yardage then is needed.

Please specify when using the pronoun "we." Because I certainly do not take it for granted, nor do most sane or competent people.

Wow, those first two numbers seem incredible. Do you know how that compares to the rest of the league?

All five of our third-down rushing attempts have been from 5 yards or less. Here's how every team has done when running on third-and-5 or less --

Romo rocks! I'm so proud of our QB and I think his the best in football right now. Those are impressive stats. Especially when we put up 41 against the Eagles who I think is one of the better defenses in the league. We are an elite team no doubt.

The scary thing is that we've been pretty dominant without putting together a complete game or really hitting our potential yet. I found these offensive numbers to be very impressive so far. NFL rankings.

Total offense 440ypg 1st
3rd down % 60 1st
yards per play 7.1 1st
Points pg 32 3rd

After three games the Cowboy offense is 21 out of 35 on 3rd downs-- Which is an incredible 60% conversion.

Think about that number for a moment, A 60% success rate converting 3rd downs.

That number is just flat-out sick.

And how many times does this offense face a 3rd & 10 (or more) because of the penalties AND Romo still converts it for the first? It happens so often that we've come to expect it.

I get the feeling that many Cowboy fans still do not appreciate what they have in this guy.

I love that 3rd down feeling, knowing Romo is going to pull through. Especially when they piss him off by calling bogus penalties. I called that Miles Austin touchdown, i didnt know it would be miles, but somehow i thought dallas had to punch someone in the mouth figuratively for that penalty call lol.

If the Redsksins or Giants come from behind to beat a bad team at home by 1 point and their quarterbacks could complete less than 50 percent of their passes, their fans openly brag, "We're the best team in the NFL and are going to the Super Bowl."

Romo could throw for 6 touchdowns, 400+ yards with one interception that was returned for a touchdown and the Cowboys beat a really good team on the road 42 to 7, yet Cowboys fans would say, "If Romo doesn't protect the ball more, we won't win a Super Bowl."

The reality (pun intended) of the situation is that if you want a good robotic quarterback like Aikman, you get a guy who will throw few interceptions but every once in a while have a bad game with no chance to come back. Quarterbacks that are very disciplined almost always tend to be out of their element when down by 10 or more points late in the game.

With Romo you get a guy who will give you many highs and occasisionally a few lows. However, personally, as much as I liked Aikman's accuracy, I enjoy Romo's "Play Maker (II)" style much more.

I can say this .. with the choice between Aikman in his prime or Romo now and the Cowboys being down by 14 in the fourth quarter, I will gladly take Romo for the win.

He came out of the game in midseason two years ago and showed that 3rd down conversion magic.

Good post.

I like the way Romo gave the official a piece of his mind after the play. Intentional grounding my arse.

Fully agree.

And I don't think it will be long in coming that if the Cowboys were down by 7 in the fourth quarter that I would gladly take Romo. :)

Those are amazing stats. Romo has been huge on moving the chains.

I watched Chicago go 4 of 15 on 3rd conversions Sunday, and they lost because of it.

Thank goodness we don't have their problem.
