This is so miscontrued and twisted by the media it's not funny.

Romo had 19 interceptions this year and 3 came off in the final week of the season. Romo didn't lead the league in interceptions. He tied with the most with the NFL's golden boy Drew Brees, but no one seems to notice that both he and Tony went 8-8 and tied for the league most.

Look closer as well. Eli threw 15 and Drew threw 19. Eli has been sacked 17 less times(with 19 sacks) than Tony Romo. Drew Brees was sacked 10 less times than Tony Romo(26). Romo is almost in the top of the league with 36 sacks from the 2012 season. Imagine how many sacks Romo avoided with his athletic ability as well.

That doesn't excuse the turnovers, considering that Aaron Rodgers has been sacked 51 times and doesn't turnover the ball, but that man is playing outside of his mind.

I just thought that stat was very telling

Here's to sum it up

Eli manning- sacked 19 times - 26 touchdowns and 15 interceptions on "536 attempts"

Drew Brees-Sacked 26 times- 43 touchdowns and 19 interceptions on "670 attempts"

Tony Romo-Sacked 36 times- 26 touchdowns and 19 interceptions on "648 attempts!!!"

Get rid of this bum now!

In any case, Romo would be the first to tell you that he had too many picks last year. It was mostly due to the poor start in the first half of the season. He and the WRs were not on the same page. Plus both the Bears and Giants games in Dallas were disasterous. Other than that, and the week 17 Washington game, it was not out of hand.

Both he and the team would be much better if he was not the sole source of offense. You can't pass all the time and also not have an oline to cover your tail. It's a recipe for failure in most cases.
Romo is very good, but he is not Brady or Rodgers, imo.

Why would you choose to compare Romo to guy (Brees) who has almost twice the number of TD's.

More importantly is the Int Ratio

Romo = 1.36 (marginal)
Brees = 2.26 (very good)
Manning = 1.73 (good)

To put it in perspective - Brett Favre the Int King had ratio of 1.56

It's a little hard to compare interceptions to interceptions, if you don't mention the 43 TDs Brees threw to Romo's 26. I wonder why nobody is talking about the league's "Golden Boy"! If Romo would've thrown 50 TDs to Brees' 43 then that's something to talk about. But this? We all know about the short comings of the offensive line!

To go a bit deeper, comparing 2012 to 2011, a breakdown of interception percentage by target shows the huge increase in INT on passes intended for the 3rd WR. The interception rate on targets to all other receivers didn't go up at all. In fact, it actually went down from the previous season.

Look at the rates for "everyone else."

2011: Team INT % 2.1
Robinson 2.5% (81 tgt, 2 int)
everyone else 2.2% (464 tgt, 10 int)

2012: Team INT % 2.9
Ogletree/Beasley/Harris 7.6% (105 tgt, 8 int)
everyone else 2.0% (551 tgt, 11 int)

But...I'm pretty sure I read someplace that Eli would have to go an entire season without an INT to equal Romo's INT percentage. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This is always great when you bring it up, btw. It really shows how layered issues like giveaways can be when you can isolate the problem to one position like this.

It also explains more of what the team was thinking when it came to their draft picks.

for careers:

Td-Int/ Ratio

Romo = 1.94
Manning = 1.46
Brees = 1.96 (his NO ratio is 2.17)

Even then, my point is that there's this huge perception that Romo is a qb who always turns over the ball. Tony is usually very good at that. Tony's luck is that he always throws interceptions at inopportune times when all the lights are on for everyone to see.

Yep. Some of us argued that the issue was more complex than "omg romo interception" last season and saw that a lot of the issues were when throwing to ogletree, harris, et al.

A steady performer like Robinson was sorely missed.

Had a lot to do with route running and making adjustments.

Mt sense of his perception is that Romo isn't turnover machine like Favre was thought to be but that he just turns it over at worst possible time.

But with the $16 million I'm sure the interceptions will be way down this year.

Not to worry, as Romo wades into his mid thirties, things are bound to get better.:bang2:

I love Romo but that's a fair statement.

Making the same read that the QB was making, yes.
