Right, there weren't a lot of targets for his QB to choose from. Like the Packers, the Cowboys were weak at OL and had no running game to speak of. Unlike the Packers, besides a huge difference defensively, the Dallas offense didn't have the luxury of being able to spread it around among 4 or 5 targets. There were basically three dependable pass catchers on the team last year, and it might be more accurate to say two and a half. This also meant there was an issue with depth when one of the three was injured.perrykemp;5081323 said:Witten was targeting a mind boggling 150 times last season -- the most for any non-WR in the NFL.
Even if you look at Nelson (2nd rounder) and Austin (UDFA) as cancelling each other out, that still leaves the Packers with Cobb (2nd rounder, led the team with 80 rec), Jones (3rd rounder, led the NFL in TD), and Finley (3rd rounder, 61 rec), and at the end of the year, Jennings, a 2nd rounder and 2-time Pro Bowler who had 25 rec 4 TD in the last four games after returning from injury.
The Cowboys had Bryant and Witten. The rest were unproven free agents and 6th rounders.
