With Romo and trash oline............8-8 every season

No Romo and still trash oline.......2-14 every season

Pick which option you want, you got 2 mins to decide. And Jerry already has said this oline is good enough, so there will be no upgrades at that position.

We have to go 2x14 next year if we want to sniff Johnny Football...
Let Romo go and rebuild for the future 3 or 4 years down the line.

But he can't just retire and say give me the $60m, ask Barry Sanders. Yes, it's guaranteed for injury, but the Pats can get insurance for that.
lol You really think the Pats won't give him all the money?

Why would Brady retire if he is getting a check every week regardless of how he plays?

He is going to pull a Favre and be playing when he is still like 45.

And he'll only get $12m a year to do it until he is 40.

How can us fans sit behind a computer and decide what is best for Romo. You guys are awfully generous with other people's money

Because there is a salary cap and every dollar Romo gets can be used elsewhere. He obviously isn't good enough to carry us deep into the playoffs on his own.

This is true...about every QB. Did it ever occur to you all that Romo might not want to re-sign with Dallas? I believe he does, but the abusive fan base and media might make him long for a fresh start somewhere else or at least think about it. He's our best option and he's smart enough to know that he needs quality teammates around him so I believe he will settle for a reasonable contract to stay in Dallas

It's a voluntary transaction between the CEO and the player. The market place determines the value and more importantly the actual individuals involved in the transaction.

Which is exactly how much Brees is getting in guaranteed money, so explain to me again how this is taking one for the team.

I dont see many people saying Brees took one for the team, yet the amount of guaranteed money is the same in both contracts.

Its really amazing a player with so much football success (Brady) would sign a team friendly contract. It allows NE to be aggressive in the draft and in FA. Brady stats are impressive. He has done so with less talent at WR and TE. He has better offensive line and maybe push at RB.

Brady:
3 Super Bowl victories
2 Super Bowl MVP awards
2 NFL MVP awards
8 All Pros
5 AFC Championships
NFL 2000s ALL Decade Team

Romo:
0 Super Bowl victories
0 Super Bowl MVP awards
0 NFL MVP awards
3 All Pros
0 NFC Championships

I am sure the timing of Brady new contract couldn't come at worse time for Romo and his agent. Romo runs risk of looking really bad if he presses for top dollar. He simply doesn't have the accomplishments to back it up. His biggest obstacle won't be Jerry but rather fans. In a way, NE might have forced Jerry to practice fiscal responsibility (which is good thing). Flacco has leverage from winning the super bowl. Romo is finishing second season at 8-8 and isn't getting younger. We find out shortly how much sanity Jerry has left.

Romo never been all pro only pro bowl.. their is a main difference

where is everyone coming from saying brady contract is equivalent to 120 million or 60 million ? It is a 3 year extension worth only 27 million.. that is at a discount 9 million a season for player like brady.. will he see it all ??? i dunno but i would take him at 37 over who we have now.

Because he still had 2 years left on his original deal. Thus, it really is a 5 year contract with $60 million guaranteed.

That is the same amount of guaranteed money that Brees got in his $100+ million contract from the Saints.

You compare contracts based on guaranteed money, not fluff money added to the end or ghost years the player will never see. If the guaranteed money is the same, the value of the contracts is the same.

Thus, this 3 year extension and restructure of his remaining 2 yrs under his old deal has the value of a new $100+ million contract. That is how you have to look at these things when evaluating what a player actually got.

Easier for Brady to do it because his wife makes bank. Probably more money than he does. And he already has had large contracts.

It's only similar if the Pats waive Brady after 2 or 3 years and have to pay him the remaining years all at once.

Brees got
2012 $37M signing bonus+3m in salary=40M
2013 $10M salary
2014 $10M salary
2015 $20M salary
2016 $20M salary=$100M

Brady got
2013 $3M signing bonus+10M salary+5M roster bonus=18M
2014 $10M salary+5M roster bonus=15M
2015 $7M salary
2016 $8M salary
2017 $9M salary=$57M(it's 3m short of 60m, but that is how it's been reported)

No, what Romo should do is play hardball to get out of Dallas because he has a moron for a boss that thinks they can get away with a crap OL because Romo has some talent in avoiding the pass rush.

Nevermind that fact that those skills will diminish the deeper he goes into his 30's.

Seeing as how this team has so little interest in protecting Romo and a seeming disregard for his short term and long term health, he should GET PAID. Get as much as you can, Tony.

myself I feel confident that the Cowboys will get the deal done with Romo and in doing so free up space within the cap. Romo knows the importance of getting talent in to this team and how that not only benifets the team but benifets him. I expect the Cowboys to pay Romo a fair market price and I think Romo understands what it would mean to him to get a championship in Dallas even after his career is over with.

As much crap as he takes by not having a ring the flip side of being able to get a ring in Dallas would be big for him long after his playing days are done

Brady will NOT play out this deal. Bank on it. I would bet my house on it. He will play the next two years, making elite level money over those two. He will then either sign a brand new deal, or just retire. The 9 mil per year is laughable, and this is only a mechanism for the Pats to spread out the cap hit and create cap room now.

How I feel exactly, Tony's injuries read like a car accident and Dr. Phibes doesn't think he needs an upgrade on the oline, if I'm Romo I don't sign anything until after the draft an free agency, and if they don't improve the oline I tell them I'm thinking of what happened to Seau and a few others and this team is allowing me to get beat up because we have an oil tycoon for a GM. I;m going to take a beating so you need to back up the brinks trucks and we can start negotiations from there, otherwise see ya!
