lol You really think the Pats won't give him all the money?

Pretty clear that is what they had in mind when striking the deal. Guaranteed means no matter what, he gets the money. Pats could claim he breached the deal that isn't gonna happen. He is getting 60 to play 3 more years. The Pats get to spread that out over 5.

Brady didn't take less though. He took guaranteed money in place of more money up front. The Pats are likely cutting him some big checks for a couple of years after he retires. Both sides are likely fine with that as it lets them make a few final runs while Brady is younger.

thats complete speculation. There is zero proof of that happening. It was a team move by Brady.

If Brady's deal frees up cap space for the rest of team, how is it not helping the team?
Romo's, new deal will have same effect.

The big difference is that NE has a GM and Dallas has Jerry. Brady knows that they will actually get OL talent for him.

thats partly Romo fault. Jerry has been clear that in his discussions with Romo - he preferred more resources spent on WR and TE and less on OL. Brandy on the other hand appears to think the OL is more important because they have a revolving door of nobodys at WR for years. Its philosophical difference, Romo wants the WR and Brady wants the OL.

I know smarter than this , Wood.

Look at all the factors before making such sweeping statements...please.
Take a lcoser look at Brady's contract for starters. Also look at the number of contract each has had and thier ages going forward. Also look at the teams around them. And so, so much more....

Anyway, I'm sure Romo and agent will try to be cap friendly as well.

When was the last time you saw a fully guaranteed contract?

Doesn't he get all 60 million even if he has a career ending injury?

Actually both of them have signed team friendly deals in the past. Brady signed a below market deal, 6/60 I think, before he was married to a super model, then signed a 4/72 extension that still wasn't tops in the league and now a very friendly extension. Romo has always been generous as far as total dollars and the willingness to restructure. I don't think he is looking to break the bank this time either.

Its really amazing a player with so much football success (Brady) would sign a team friendly contract. It allows NE to be aggressive in the draft and in FA. Brady stats are impressive. He has done so with less talent at WR and TE. He has better offensive line and maybe push at RB.

Brady:
3 Super Bowl victories
2 Super Bowl MVP awards
2 NFL MVP awards
8 All Pros
5 AFC Championships
NFL 2000s ALL Decade Team

Romo:
0 Super Bowl victories
0 Super Bowl MVP awards
0 NFL MVP awards
3 All Pros
0 NFC Championships

I am sure the timing of Brady new contract couldn't come at worse time for Romo and his agent. Romo runs risk of looking really bad if he presses for top dollar. He simply doesn't have the accomplishments to back it up. His biggest obstacle won't be Jerry but rather fans. In a way, NE might have forced Jerry to practice fiscal responsibility (which is good thing). Flacco has leverage from winning the super bowl. Romo is finishing second season at 8-8 and isn't getting younger. We find out shortly how much sanity Jerry has left.

Romo looks very bad anyway..... No matter what Romo looks bad.

Do you think that all the grief he takes week in and week out should be free? Dont like it? Dont pay him... Let him go to a team that has a better front office so he can have more Bradyesque #'s

the numbers on brady's contract are out - he received a 30 mil signing bonus and will now make 3 million more over the next two years than he was previously scheduled to rake in.

ESPN is reporting that the deal is 5/57 with 33m in guarantees(30m signing bonus paid over 3 years+3m in salaries over 2 years), the remaining 24m over the last 3 years is guaranteed for injury only. They can release him due to play or he could retire and not get paid. They could also re-do his deal at anytime in the last 3 years if he continues to play at high level. Any way you look at it he was due 33m over the next 2 years before and now will receive 18m over the next 2 years and 40/3. Whereas Brees received 55m over 2 years or 60/3.

That's not what he said.

With Romo and trash oline............8-8 every season

No Romo and still trash oline.......2-14 every season

Pick which option you want, you got 2 mins to decide. And Jerry already has said this oline is good enough, so there will be no upgrades at that position.

I'm sorry, I have taken longer then 2 minutes. I take B. We will only need 1 2-14 season, two at the very most (assuming that is what we see, a 2-14 season) and then we have a Franchise QB and we are on the way back up.

That is my opinion. Had I seen this when it was originally posted, it would only have taken me about 2 seconds to decide.
