All season he has been underthrowing wr's and if usually when you dont have a very good nfl arm when you try to throw it hard it fludders which i seen plenty of times throughout the season. Im preety sure we didnt throw alot of deep ball's because romo cant get it there with the accuracy. This is just my opinion but i want to know what you guys think of tony's arm strenth i think it's average at best, just looking back at all the big plays we could have had werent converted mainly becuase of his arm strength. He needs to get it stronger forsure. I remember brady coming out he had a good arm but it seems now he has a dart and he didnt have that 5-6 years ago. Your thoughts?

Do you think Jason Campbell has a stronger arm?;)

when it comes to deep balls, yes. when it comes down to arm strength when discussing deep balls I'd put every NFCE qb over Romo in that sense.

re-visit the deep pass he threw to TO against the Commanders at FedEx field on the 2006 season. The one TO dropped. That answered my questions about his ability to throw the deep ball. A lot of his inconsistency on the deep ball was due to him getting pressured at the time, thus he could not step into the throw...he is not top 10 in terms of arm strength...but he can make all of throws. I think his biggest problem with the deep ball is not throwing it early enough...which means he does not jude the speed of the WR accuratley...or he does not recognize the WR is open soon enough.

I haven't seen him throw a deep ball like that since.

it's T.O's fault:D

He doesn't have a weak harm, but his long passes do have a tendency to get caught up in the wind and end up underthrown. Not every QB has a laser, rocket arm like Peyton Manning, but accuracy is far more important.

Even Peyton doesn't have a laser, rocket arm(despite what he says in his commercial). He has a strong arm, but it isn't in that laser, rocket category like Elway, Favre, Jeff George and several others.

I don't know how it is much of an issue if Romo has a strong arm. Everything I read on this board tells me that Dallas doesn't have a deep threat anyway.

Romo has the arm strength to make all the throws needed in the NFL.

I have thought myself that a lot of his long ball throws end up underthrown but I think that has been due to timing and not lack of arm strength.

He can throw a deep out on a rope. just becuase he doesnt try to Elway it every time that he throws doesn't mean he cannot when he needs to.

Not worried about the deep ball with Romo but, I'd have to concur, he doesn't have a cannon for an arm.

I'm reminded of that 2nd or 3rd to last play in the SB when Brady tossed a deeeeep desperation pass attempt to Moss that was jussssst knocked away...That had to have been about 60 yards right on the money...I don't think Romo makes that throw but then again, how often do you need that throw?

If this is a critique, then, yeah, he's got a weaker arm in that respect than many other QBs...But overall?...I don't know that there are even 2 QBs I'd take over Tony.

His arm is as strong as Staubach's or Montana's, and that didn't stop them.

I think "weak" is exaggerating a bit. Most coaches would tell you his arm strength is NFL-average.

most of his underthrows (maybe most or all) hae to do with pressure and not setting his feet (his fault?)--I'd rank arm strength as maybe my 5th or 6th most important QB asset behind smarts, escapability, accuracy, leadership, touch, ?.

I will say Tony needs to work on the deep ball acurracy... I think he's got plenty of arm strength honestly.

Well if Romo does have some flaw in his throwing motion when targeting WRs deep then it could cause more of a loose spiral, which could cause the ball to "die" and lose speed quicker. Also he may not be able to judge the necessary trajectory correctly, causing him to leave the ball hanging in some cases. Just two situations where ball speed at release isn't necessarily an indications of a players "in game" arm strength.

his mechanics go down the drain sometime, it could be him just throwing off his backfoot, which he does alot, which isn't bad throwing medium passes

his arm isn't that strong

I think you are mistaken here my friend.

I went to training camp last year in San Antonio and I was watching Romo one day before team practice. He was throwing deep to one of the young receivers and the ball was easily going 60 yards in the air. That is NOT an indication of a weak arm.

Romo may not have a cannon, but he has plenty arm strenght to make all the throws in the NFL.
