Romo was not going to be anything in the playoffs unless Dak got hurt.
Considering who we have as backups right now, I'm not so sure they were concerned about our backup QB. I'm fairly certain that they were more worried about the media circus as a result of Romo tearing up the Eagles defense. Of course they would never tell us that so we don't know for sure.

LOL. Tearing up the Eagles' Week 17, nothing to play for defense. Okay.

....you are just proving my point.

So, Aikman was only a good QB when he has a historic OL, an iconic RB, a HOF WR, and a great and underappreciated defense?

That's what I am arguing LOL So again, if Aikman was so great, why couldn't he show off these abilities when we had to rely on him more? The year he had to throw as much as Favre and Marino was one of his worse seasons of his career.

And even with that 95 team declining, it was still loaded with talent and one we added to in FA with Sanders.

You can say the same about Joe Montana who played on loaded 49ers teams as well with the best WR of all-time.

Tony Romo played on a loaded team in 2007; 13 pro bowlers; most in Cowboys history.

The 90s OL was not historic. Only 1 HOF player Larry Allen who was not on the team for the first 2 SBs in the 1990s.

I do not care about Dan Marino’s, Warren Moon’s, and Brett Favre’s regular season passing stats. Aikman won more SBs than those 3 combined.

LOL - players who did not win a championship in your world do not deserve any recognition. That was your message. I named players who have all received recognition and did not win a championship. Forget HOF, I could've listed a hundred more in team ROH's.

Apples & Oranges?

C'mon man, it's a terrible position to take and completely indefensible and I know you want it back.

ROH is suppose to be for all time Cowboy greats that spent most of their time in a cowboy uniform and were elite transitional players, not rental players(Haley) that help you win championships, if we're going by that determination, then James Washington, and Leon Lett should be in there since their difference making plays in the Superbowls helped the Cowboys win two Superbowls, right!!......Bullet Bob Hayes was a transitional player, he forced NFL defenses to change how they defend him, he played most of his career for the Cowboys..Quarterbacks are under a different standard, Tony Romo had alot of good stats but just as many dumb plays that cost this team wins and he didn't lead this team to even an NFC championship, you think a qb who didn't even make an NFC championship game deserves a ROH nomination, I don't.... Danny White led the Cowboys to three consecutive NFC championships, for a Quarterback you either have to be an elite QB at your posiiton or lead the team to championships, under that latter standard you seem to want to subscribe empty stats, Danny White is more deserving of the ROH than Romo. White has more playoff wins, Romo was neither elite in his era nor a championship quarterback and therefore is NOT a ROH type player IMO.....ROH candidates should be exclusive, not watered down with stat guys that weren't transitional nor elite at their position.. I know an Hall of fame player when I see him, just like I know a ROH player when I see him..

I guess winning championships isn't important anymore!! So Romo goes in under the participation award....Every since Haley, the rental, Jerry has cheapening the ROH...

I would put Tony but not Haley.

There are better players who won't be in the ROH, but Tony meant more to the team, and gave more. He gave everything a football player had to give.

Charles Haley was not a rental.

He was gladly traded to the Cowboys since he had worn out his welcome with the 49ers; urinating on teammates vehicles and so on.

Likewise, the balance of power tilted from the 49ers to the Cowboys.

The 49ers were idiots for trading Haley to the Cowboys since he provided the last missing ingredient (pass rush) the Cowboys defense mostly needed after getting a beat down by the Lions in the 1991 playoffs.

With Haley, the Cowboys defense transformed into the #1 unit in the entire NFL; and became a sacking, turnover generating, and third down stopping machine.

Plus, Jerry placed him in the ROH to help Haley get inducted into the HOF.

Truthful if you want to compare Aikman VS Romo you can only really by comparing them VS their contemporaries. In those regards they are about equal.

The game now is almost nothing like it was in Aikman's era. This lost on alot of people. The position was much more difficult to play in the 90's, however a QB today is expect to carry his team in a way a QB in the 90's never had to. Statistically speaking, a QB with a rating of 80 was close to elite, where as now if you are hovering around 90 you are worried about being benched. Those QB's had to play teams with many more tools rules wise to stop the passing. You had to either have a balanced attack to soften and open up a defense. Or an offensive scheme designed to create mismatches that was ultimately likely to fail at the highest stage like the R&S

In the 90's, volume passing attacks existed. However those teams where never expected to make a legit run. Those closest to do that were SF WCO and the Bills K-Gun. And both were very balanced attacks.

To me the point negatives to argue Romo/Aikman is an injustice to two great QB's

Haley had three good seasons in a cowboy uniform and had serious back problems after that with the Cowboys. he was a shell of himself the last two seasons....Haley was already going to be HOF player by his unique pass rushing skills, Jerry didn't help that because of putting him in the ROH...the guy had five rings, the only player in history, that alone gets him in the hall of fame..

What the hell are you talking about? Joe Montana still played at an incredibly high level with 49ers and played well with the Chiefs and nearly helped take them to a Super Bowl LOL

And my goodness comparing the 07 Cowboys to a 90s dynasty in terms of talent. Please dude....stop it.

Haley was not getting in due to his image and behavior when he played. Likewise, Jerry Jones, the Triplets, and others vouched for Haley... to help him eventually get into the HOF.

Im not taking anything away from Romo as a QB and what he brought to the Cowboys, it was a wasteland before he got here at the posiiton but he just wasn't a transitional all time great Cowboy player as a Quarterback which is what the ROH is suppose to be about, Moose Johnston meant a lot to this team, ask Emmitt and he sacrificed and gave more than any other player when he played for the Cowboys but I don't think he should be in there either....

The NFL has been mediocre for sometime including in 2007 with the 10-6 Giants defeating the 13-3 Cowboys and 16-0 Patriots.

The 1993 Cowboys team would have put a beat down on any Patriots team from 2001-present.

The Triplets stated that Haley was instrumental during their SB run because Haley was the only player who had previously played and won in SBs. Likewise, he helped pushed the young Cowboys in practice as well.

I don't think anybody is disputing his significance or importance to winning those championships. I think for some, including myself, I don't think of him as a a "Cowboy" great. He was already great before he arrived, he was brought up and developed and had already experienced success on another team. I think in his heart he would probably consider himself a 9er first, evidenced by having Eddie D. do his HOF introduction. I'm sure he has tremendous respect for Jerry and the Cowboys. I think of it in the same way that if I was a Bronco fan, I wouldn't consider DWare a "Bronco" great even if he helped to bring a Lomardi. Even if DWare would have brought them a couple more championships, he would have been a "Cowboy" first. I always felt the ROH was about lifelong or near lifelong great Cowboys.

I never understood the need to knock Aikman to elevate Romo
not knocking him, hes the gold standard , correct? Romo destroyed his passing records, owns them all.. Aikman had a 11 HOF a HOF coach and at the time a GM who had no FA and Cap the same as we do now..The reality is is Romo would have been as good or better if he was the 90s QB..hes had some decent talent but not those teams..i remember well Aikmans 1996 SB year 1995 RS I believe he had 12 Tds and 12 Ints for the year..look at his over all Td.INT ratio and Romos is a lot better.. I luv aikman we were lucky to have him, he was abig game QB that seem to excel in the playoffs and SBs more then the RS.. Aikman has nothing to prove and fans cant really knock him but if hes the standard ROMO haters need a reminder that he didnt have the same team or coaches around him..

Because Favre and Marino played in pass happy offenses. They did not have to share the ball as often with the RBs.

They also did not play with the NFL’s all-time leading rusher... Emmitt Smith and in an offense that had the RB as the core option.

That is why, Aikman stated he could have put up big numbers if he played in systems that Marino and Favre played in.

Jerry had no say on whether Haley got into the hall of fame and writers in the hof committe couldn't care less if Haley was in the Cowboy ROH......

To me its just really impossible to evaluate either against each other. Stat wise Aikman didnt play in a wide open league. You cant measure his stats VS Romo. Winning wise, Romo never played on a team as stacked the 90's team. So you cant truly say Aikman would have done any better in Romo's era than he did.
