Why does Romo refuse to throw the ball away? He takes bad sacks.

Romo improved his game by learning there are times when you concede the sack and move on to the next play. That was part of his growth process.

Now, there are times when he has had the opportunity to throw the ball away but instead conceded the sack, but if that's the biggest complaint we've got, we ain't got nothing.

some are better than others, guy come free off the snap often the QB is better off tucking the ball and taking the sack than to try to throw it away.

Get your drift but really depends on the mobility or escape-ability of the QB. Many big plays of Romo's are that of broken plays. If the QB has that knack of sidestepping (Rodgers) or pirouetting in Romo's case, then it often buys time for a big play vs. punt.

Quarterbacks also can't see all the traffic around them when pressure comes. It might look like a simple decision to throw the ball away as fans because we can see all around the QB, but the QB doesn't always know if there's someone close enough to knock the ball out if he tries to pull his arm back to throw it out of bounds. The risk-free play is to take the sack.

I love seeing Romo spin out of traffic, but almost always when he does, he takes an immediate glance around him to see where pressure might come from. It would be nice if he had Spidey sense, but all he can use is his vision.

I get that just saying you get a defender up the middle coming untouched get down and Romo has. I have no issues with Tony. I accept the fact he will always look to extend a play in the process he may end up taking a sack but so often he seems to catch the guy out of the corner of his eye and makes the play.

Only 8 teams allowed few sacks than the Cowboys did. Sacks allowed by team last year:

Dallas 30
INDY 29
ARZ 28
OAK 28
NE 26
HOU 26
CIN 23
BAL 19
DEN 17

This stat is useless without pass attempts. I'm way more impressed with Indy's 29 than I am Dallas' 30, especially considering how porous their line is.

True that is one reason LT make the money they do since they protect the blind side of the QB but even at that your right with guys flying around the QB can't always pick up the rusher and the last thing you want is a QB who is focused on the rusher instead of keeping his eyes down the field.

He was in the pocket, between the hash marks.

You are welcome to try again though ;-)

lol

every play starts in the pocket.

You are just about 0 for lifetime in any Romo discussions Red.
So far off on this topic for years.

But that's fine. Nobody's perfect....even Romo, btw.

This is the 3rd part of a series by Bob Sturm to review all the sacks from 2014.

Hey Romo even got sacked against Indy and Luck didn't!

Then there was this

Romo: 4 TDs, 0 ints, 151 QB rating
Luck: 0 TDs, 2 ints, 42 passer rating

Dallas 42
Indy 7

But hey, Romo took that sack!

Actually. You are wrong here. Couldn't be more wrong.

But that's ok. You are one of the many posters that change what is said so you throw in "Lol"appear to Give the illusion of being right.

I said throw it away when out of pocket.
Your example he is in the pocket.

Then you follow up with weak "every play starts in the pocket"..... Not the point little Ricky

when Romo threw the ball vs Houston he was not in the pocket. He could have just taken the sack instead of heaving it, but he didn't.
