Stylistically, I like Aikman/Rodgers more than I like Favre/Romos, too. It's easier to manage the rest of the game when you know that your QB is going to play the percentages and manage the game and can make all the throws and will avoid the big hits. That said, from an entertainment perspective, it's hard not to love the scrambling and the point-guard-goes-QB style of play that Romo brings you. And his personality makes it more fun to watch, too. He's a pretty cool dude.

Except that Romo turns it over much less than Troy did in almost situations.
Im not at all belittling Troy, it's just that you and I both know Romo actually turns it over at an historically low rate. 2.6% Int rate

Then again, you may have only been referring to style and not turnovers.

Staubach was great at throwing the ball away to avoid a sack. I have seen video clips of Landry teaching Roger to toss it. Romo holds the ball a little too long and it causes a few more sacks.

Rank in Passer Rating
(average of all qualifying seasons)
Rodgers 3.1
Manning 5.3
Romo 6.1
Brady 7.0
Brees 9.8

Among the top 5 highest-rated passers since 1998, Romo has the 3rd-highest average ranking. Each qualifying year, he's ranked an average of slightly lower than 6th in the NFL. If you do the same things with each QB's defenses over their career, it looks like this...

Rank in Defensive Passer Rating
(defense's average in QB's qualifying seasons)
Rodgers 7.7
Brady 11.4
Manning 18.3
Romo 19.3
Brees 20.5

Average Difference Between Rankings
Romo +13.2
Manning +13.0
Brees +10.7
Rodgers + 4.6
Brady +4.4

Except that Troy didn't really turn it over and /or intentionally ground at the most inopportune times and singlehandedly lose games.

Throw it away!!!!

You're reaching new lows
approaching ufc idiocy

It's sad that you post such things. Makes you look blind and foolish.

I can dig through games since Romo has been QB and find at least 5 games, 5 critical games that he blew ala Favre.... But I won't... You know those games exist. You choose ignorance.

You can support Romo fully. As I do. And still call him on his ****!

Not that either QB ever "singlehandedly" lost a game, but I would be willing to bet a lot of money that Aikman was far worse in this mythical category. Troy had a lot of stinkers in his after age 30 starts.

Of course, I'm pretty sure the redvolution troll thinks Tony "lost" that 51-48 game, so we know he's not rolling with a full deck.

He can win it all with serviceable to good defense.

Yah, Im not sure on that one. I think it needs to be a top 10 defense minimum. Top 5 would be great. And that run game needs to stay very good. We dont need the best run game, but we need a good one.

That's right.....it would be extremely rare that a good QB could ever completely shoulder the blame for a loss.

And yeah, the Denver game could possibly be the all-time worst example that some have used.

Football--especially because there are 22 starters plus special teams AND it's a game where the players don't play both offense and defense, may be the game where you can least ever pin a win or loss totally on one player.

It seems to require almost 2nd grade logic, yet we have those who think otherwise.
mind-boggling.

Oh yeah, Troy threw more than one game-ending interception in his career....even when he had great teams. When he had bad teams it was pretty ugly at times...as would be expected by most QBs. I had no intention of diminishing Aikman. I was and am a fan.

Romo wasn't perfect that game but you can learn alot about people's perceptions of football when they blame Romo for that particular loss. And when I say football, I mean every competitive level of football from Pee Wee up.

I'm glad someone knows what im talking about.

He doesn't throw the ball away so much because it allows him a chance to scramble and make something and when he does, he really does. For that reason, I will take a bad sack once in awhile.

That being said, he has gotten alot better in that area like others said

Exactly RW. If you take away Romo "holding onto the ball" you take away a huge number of third down conversions and touchdowns. He is a playmaker and playmaking will always have risks. If anything Romo deserves massive praise for taking so few sacks considering his playmaking.

Some fans have the IQ of a flea or a cockroach with their criticisms.
