Romo's post game thoughts after the injury

Proof of that perspective?
Admittedly conjecture based off what Jerry and Stephen have said regarding Dak.

I personally thought it was complete failure of management to allow Romo back in last season knowing he had a higher chance of breaking the clavicle again. I cringe every single time I see Romo hit. The man has a family and needs to start making choices for them rather than his own personal competitive nature that could leave him disabled.

If the doctors clear him to play, and he wants to play and feels he can play, I say go ahead and do it. As long as he knows the risks.
But if it were me, I would start my retirement

While all games matter, they'll matter more later in the season. You don't want him out there right now, in the shape he's in. You hope that Dak can keep the offense going & keep the defense off the field & do what he can to win these first 2 games. Then you worry about a Romo's return after that. Not worth the risk to him or the team this early.

i don't think they keep 4, spot is too valuable.

if they bring in a vet, they release Showers or put Romo on lesser IR. My bet is lesser IR.

Remember, unless I am mistaken and they already have him on IR, they are going to have to make a decision on Kellen Moore as well. Surely cant keep 5 QBs
That is the other downside here.

Burn the IR designated to return because they expect him to come back and rescue the team or worse, keep him floating on the roster what could be ten weeks or longer so he can be ready for the "playoff push". Other injuries will happen and it will be a spot that will have to be maneuvered around.

Eventually this team needs to wean itself off the idea he is a savior and play football without that idea of him coming back in a sixteen week time frame anymore.

It's what they should do. Play the season as if he's not coming back. And make sure he is totally healed when he does.

David Carr had the same injury in 2007. He came back in 3 weeks but he said he had less zip on the ball. 6 weeks is likely.

They had a physician sign off last season. The only "staff" that has to agree with it is an old man who drinks to much.:D

If a Dr. signs off they sign off.

Hey, it's a tough sport.

With a lot of money and prestige at stake.

"Real world" rules don't always apply.

I bet if it were a playoff game in two weeks, there would be a 90% chance that he would play. Put on extra armor, take a shot and go to war!

Good lord. Let's say he plays day 1. He might make it through a few series. He's going to have to take hits. If he throws the ball away every time some one gets close there is no sense in him playing. Last season he came back to soon, probably never should have. Does no one remember what a disaster that was?
That would play right into the Giants DC's hands. Bring the house until they knock him out and bring Prescott in without the advantage of QB1 reps in practice. And then bring the house against him and see if he's a blitz beater.

Romo isn't going to play, he's just being the good soldier and selling the story. He's played enough injured that the Giants can't be 100% sure.

No, but he had two bones broken in his back and also finished the game.

Much easier to do at 27 or 28 years old, which was Carr's age at the time. Romo might end up in a wheel chair if he tries to come back for week 1. I'm not so keen on the idea of a rookie starting the season, but chances are good he would have been pushed into the #1 role by week 2 or 3 at most any way.
