I looked up this injury and the issue isn't how he feels but what happens if he damages it more. Fracturing a vertebrae is one thing but they make the point that further injury could cause it to collapse resulting in not being able to stand up properly afterward. I would hope he wouldn't base it only on how it feels but instead the damage that another hit could do to him. I love the guy! Nobody can say he isn't tough or that he doesn't want to make the team a success. But he and the team do have to take his future seriously.

I don't think the doctors will let him play if there's a risk of further damage in that area.

Even if he did come back, a rusty Tony Romo coming off another injury doesn't sound like a recipe for success. The guy hasn't played much football over the past 12 months.

And the truth of it is, even when he did play last year, he didn't play up to his on previous standards.

Now I'm wondering what they'll end up doing with the roster? Do they continue to go down the 'hope' route and keep Romo on the 53-man roster?

If so, are they then forced to bring in a veteran and keep four quarterbacks? And the , that costs another player his spot?

Do they sign a vet, keep Romo, Prescott, and that vet, and drop Showers, costing him his roster spot?

Or do they IR Romo and designate a return after 8 weeks?

I can't help but wonder what they decide to do with the roster.

i don't think they keep 4, spot is too valuable.

if they bring in a vet, they release Showers or put Romo on lesser IR. My bet is lesser IR.

Remember, unless I am mistaken and they already have him on IR, they are going to have to make a decision on Kellen Moore as well. Surely cant keep 5 QBs

Romo has no best case scenario. If Dak goes 2-4 and Romo returns. He will feel like he has to do to much and will probably be injured. If Dak goes 5-1 then they will probably stick with the hot hand. You're not supposed to lose your job to injury but injuries are a different story. I love the way Romo plays the game. I have stuck with him through all the ups and downs. I will be sad to see him go but this latest injury has just shortened his career by a year. I love what Dak has done and hope he can hold down the fort till Romo returns. But make no mistake, he's not ready. 2 years from now I expect him to be but not now. Feel for Romo. He has been blessed with God given ability and cursed with injury. Hopefully he returns and leads this team to a SB Victory and goes out like Elway. No one deserves it more that he. Here's hoping Number 9 returns and stays healthy this season GO COWBOYS!!!!

I think you'll find most players do the same.

It's part of their make-up.

Oh, no doubt. And I give all of their opinions the same level of credibility. None.

What they hope for and what is are two entirely different things.

If 6-10 weeks is accurate, it should be IR with the return option. I've heard that they don't have to designate anymore and can use it once as they see fit.

If Garrett rushes Romo back into service on week 1 he needs to be immediately fired. You have to consider how much it would hurt the team rather than help it.

Of course, it could really be Jerry saying this and Garrett is just the messenger.

Nobody is rushing back Romo but Romo.
