Romo's quote is disheartening to me...

Romo tries to give his receivers chances to make a play quite a few times. He did it twice last sunday, with both Williams and Owens.

The trouble is, neither one seems at all eager to go up for the ball, or make any sort of an effort to make a play when Tony gives them that chance.
That pass to Roy was nowhere near him

typical overanalysis.

what was he supposed to say exactly?

and all the redux is hilarious. \

if we hit one of the deep ones he tried we get points so the 6 point swing stuff is moot.

the key to winning the game turned out not to be field goals but TDs. if we had scored another on an earlier attempt it changes the complexion of the game.

And if Romo connects with T.O. and we score a TD out of it, Romo is then just as good as Tom Brady and this article is never posted.

And if Drew Henson had connected for a few (OK, many) touchdowns, this whole Romo discussion is moot, and maybe we win the SB last year.

This is fun. :p:

I like his response. He does not care about stats--I hate guys that sit on it before the half. Throw it deep and at least try to score. They did not get the ball in scoring position--give the 3 points to the defense.

It's an ok comment. I don't like hearing him talk about picks at all, frankly, but there were several pressers while Parcels was here where he (Bill) talked openly about long picks that yield field position on late downs being basically punts.

The first pick, when I saw it live, I was irritated that RW didn't at least try to knock that ball down. It was a horrible pass, but it sure would be nice to see the WRs looking out for the QBs, and vice versa. That's all part of being on the same page that Romo talked about in the rest of the presser. It was more apparent this week than it had been in previous weeks, and it was really frustrating to sit and watch.

First of all, are you disagreeing with his statement that it's like a punt? If so, what is there to disagree with in that statement? It was third down. Had that pass been an incomplete pass or had we not run for enough yardage, we would have punted the next play. It was like a punt.

First off it was 2nd down and 3 yards to go, not third down on that second throw.

Secondly, that ball was thrown so short there was no way TO could have stopped, came back and adjusted, blocked out the safety and caught that ball. It was a horrible throw that he should not have made.

It was not like a punt. It was a crappy play by Romo.

This whole "It was like a punt" BS is bringing back bad QC memories.

Edit: Oh and by the way, it was 3rd and 2 on the 2nd INT. 2 freakin' yards is all we need and he lobs it up to Ed Reed.

Both passes were horrible decisions. I don't see how ANYONE can defend them. Pointing out that they were horrible decisions doesn't mean people are saying he's a horrible QB. The greatest QBs of all time have made plenty of Horrible decisions. It's pointing out a fact, not making claims regarding his overall abilities as a QB.

The interception that is being talked about was not on second down. It was on third down.

I'd trust even our sorry ST's to prevent a 30 yard run back more then I'd trust that we can stop Ed Reed (3 TDs this year) from having a big return.

He brought the ball back to midfield. It was NOT like a punt. And it was 3rd and 2. Either throw it to the safety valve or try to run for it. Throwing it to Ed Reed was freakin' stupid, and - again - NOT like a punt.

The problem is, it also put the defense on the field again, which led to them being tired out. This whole try and get a big play bull-crap that Garrett and Romo are doing consistently is going to hurt the defense in big games, like it did against the Ravens.

How about the 31 yards our defense gave up to put Baltimore in range for a 37 yard field goal?

Ed Reed runs back picks 100+ yards. That play was never there, and it was doubled.

Yeah, its just a punt. O.K.

Go get'em Leonard and Gurode and Flo.

Wow, a whopping 31 yards?

If he'd thrown that pass away, and we punted - FOR REAL - on the next play, that sorry offense would have had to go about 60 yards to get in FG range, and they would have had about 35 seconds to do it.

That INT lead to points for them and it lead to a HUGE momentum shift at halftime leading into the second half.

Anyone defending that INT is either incredibly ignorant or is a gigantic homer. It was a dumb pass, plain and simple.

I'm not defending the interception.

I'm saying it was similar to a punt, given the situation. And it did not directly lead to points for Baltimore. They still had to get into field goal range, and they had no trouble doing that, gaining 31 yards in three plays (10 yards a play).

The first INT was similar to a punt. It pinned them deep, and with the turnover it put us in scoring range.

That said, both picks were horrible throws *and* bad decisions by Romo. It's just that he's had more damning turnovers at other points in the season.

You just don't get it, do you?

It was NOT similiar to a punt, unless the punt were returned 30 yards. It was a bad pass, bad decision, and it gave the Ravens a VERY SHORT distance to drive to get into FG range.

If we do a REAL punt on the next play, we would have been up 7-6 at halftime.

My QB has a chronic turnover problem and makes a statement after a bad performance dismissing a key turnover of his in the game as a "punt". This turnover directly resulted in a lead change, loss of momentum, and the team wound up chasing those 3 points the entire second half.

I think there are grounds for major concern here.

How is a turnover in the first half key? If they take it back to the house and shut us out in the 2nd half then you can point to that as a key turnover however you're just pissing in the wind with your argument now. Facts remain it was like a punt defense couldn't hold defense doesn't show up again defense could stop a WR with one arm......couldn't stop a rookie QB nor could it stop some crappy RB's try to put the blame some where else all you want to but ken hamlin giving the ball back to the Ravens was a much bigger play than this and so was the fake FG.
