I believe it was 3rd and 19.

Yes but you have to get rid of the ball. Even if you don't get the 1st, you can't take a sack. Most teams on 3rd and 19, run a screen, draw or quick pass. Take what they can take and kick it away. That was a terrible play and him trying to do too much.

I think everybody understands this. He made a mistake. He just needs to stay focused on what wins and what loses.

I believe it was 3rd and 19.

I was there, it was insane - so much time, a number of wide open short to immediate options - Tony was still looking deeper for a 1st down - only one guy still left rushing - OL just standing there after the ball was loose.

It really was the low point of the game - it elevated the crowd to their most obnoxious level.

Dez's pair of 22 yard catches in the next series was huge, as was Murray's big run on 2nd down - crowd started booing their team again and they never recovered after Wilcox's amazing int.

That was greedy play on his part unacceptable, but i give him dues for the W. At 3rd and 19 there isnt a play to overcome that hole unless there is a blown coverage. I thought we was going to play the field postion and attempt a run, screen or quick dump off. That play is one of my main issues he want the big play too much. He had almost 10 seconds in the pocket that day. Im just glad we recovered because that play would have been in everyone mind if we lost.

He was going to dump it to Murray at the end, but saw the defender coming up behind him (Murray), which is why pulled it back at the last second. If he hadn't stopped to throw to Murray and kept going across the pocket, Martin would have cleaned up the guy who hit him, and he probably would have had another 3 or 4 seconds.

That play really peeved me off. That and the 3rd and 1 sack romo took holding the ball and looking way downfield.

Otherwise romo played a very good game and as I am critical of him for holding the ball too long he did au great after that. It's like he got mad after that play and went off.

I did see on the last dez Td he took the shotgun snap and let it go right away with the blitz coming. I was like -finally they are throwing the timing route to beat the blitz.

But overall I give romo props for a good game. However if he hadn't come back I would probably be blaming his sack fumble for a big reason why we lost.

And as someone else posted. There was a lineman standing there still while the eAgle player grabbed the ball. That was awful

Someone (can't remember who but I think it was NFLN) ran a clock on the play, and Romo had 9+ seconds from snap to fumble.

I know the OL is awesome, but at some point much earlier, the ball has to go.

That said, outside of that play, he played a good game.

You pretty much covered it. It was a bad play by Romo but over all he had a really solid game and was a big reason we won the game.

What was the down and distance again? He had Murray wide open on a dump off and looked to have Witten coming open across the field, but he refused to take them. What happened there?

One of the best performances by any QB on any team all season and we have a thread on a strip fumble.

Yes, he should have gotten it out but thought he still had time for some reason.
Hang him

In case anyone forgot, the Eagles only brought 3 guys on that play. With our OL the last thing Romo should be concerned about is getting hit like that.
He held the ball for 10 seconds. The sack came from someone they had pushed back nearly 15 yards from the line of scrimmage. The line did its job, but they had their back to Romo and thought for sure he'd thrown the ball or ran it by then. In no circumstance should any QB ever hold the ball for 10 seconds.

To Romo's credit, he did a much better job tossing the ball away when under pressure. But on that 3rd and 19, you gotta dump it off eventually and live to see another day.

Or you throw it deep to Dez and maybe he catches it or gets a PI.

He held the ball too long and does that often. He is playing great this season, but that is a weakness in his game. At times, he refuses to get out of the pocket and throw it away. Ironically, he did just that on the first offensive play of the game. Really surprised me. I hope he learns from it. Overall, we can't complain about Romo. He is a blessing.

After 10 seconds, and it really was almost 10 seconds, even if only 2 guys were rushing, the QB should have something in his mind saying "get rid of it dummy" or he better make sure he sees all 3 guys in front of him.

Usually i would agree with this statement. But TWill and Dez appeared to run their routes into the same area which pretty much took both out of the play. I'm sure this is why Romo felt he had nowhere to go with the ball.

I would have preferred him to dump it down or throw it away. I do think the league in general gives up on anything longer than 3rd and 12 way too often and there's nothing wrong with throwing a deep bomb and it getting intercepted if you can bring the interceptor down. It can be as good as a decent punt and the upside is that you might catch it or get a PI.

Leary just stood there with the ball at his feet. I almost lost my voice.
I almost threw my remote at the tv. I was yelling, "Leary! The ball is right there! Just flop down!" The whole sequence was surreal.
