Well, with all due respect, I can see why you and I look at things differently. I like Romo, but I would trade him for VY. Young is in his first year and is 8-5 as a starter with a team not nearly as talented as our Cowboys team is. Whether you would do that or not (and obviously you wouldn't make that trade), doesn't matter because the Titans wouldn't do it, and the Cowboys might would not as well.

Young doesn't have Terrell Owens, Jason Witten, and Terry Glenn as his targets. He has Bobby Wade, Drew Bennett, some lumbering tight end (I can't remember his name right now), and a pretty good looking young receiver #81 (I can't remember his name either.)

And in terms of him being "ok" as a rookie, don't be surprised if he is given the Rookie of the Year award. That will demonstrate that in the judgment of others he is a little better than "ok."
You're right. I wouldn't make that trade.

I just don't think the NFL's lowest rated passer will be the Rookie of the Year.

What he said, and they have returned 8 kicks for TD's. Look it up. That tends to make things easier.

Young is making a living running the ball. That will win you nothing. That has been time tested. Look at Vick. It's a recipe for 8-8. Teams will adjust to that, the way they have with Vick.

Ok, I hear ya. Just remember your words about 3 years from now, because you will see you are wrong. Young is not Vick, he is much more than that.

Has he had help? Sure, what QB doesn't. (Another fact that the stat mongers still refuse to consider, as they judge Aikman to have been inferior to the likes of Steve Young, as if YOUNG had no help)

But my friend if you think 39 yard TD runs in overtime, and the huge TD run he had last week in crunch time don't reflect individual greatness, JUST LISTEN TO HIS TEAMMATES. They seem to be pretty impressed. Listen to his opponents. They seem to be pretty impressed.

If you will get beyond your stats and actually remember what a QB's job is, DO WHAT IS NEEDED FOR YOUR TEAM TO WIN, then I think (in my opinion) you will have a better understanding of a player like Vince Young.

Another "must protect the golden child" thread. Someone must have bought an expensive Romo jersey and is getting nervous. Believe it or not, you can criticize Tony and not burst into flames.

From the looks of it, he had these stats crunched before the game. If not, that's some quick research. Please, do ignore all this, however, and expect everyone to have your same poor attitude.

And yet he posted it 30 minutes ago, after a terrible loss. Timing is everything.

The same things that were said about Vick.

This is a time-tested experiment. Running QB's don't win championships. Young will be another Mike Vick in three years. Everyone will be saying "why can't he get his team into the playoffs". A running QB is the most overrated player in the NFL. It just doesn't work.

and Vince has a better D than Romo

point?

Point is that Vince Young is a winner, has always been a winner, and keep watching him, will continue to be a winner. He is a ROOKIE who took a team that was winless when he got the reigns and they ended up 8-8. One game worse than our Cowboys. One game.

But enough of this debate, it's pointless. The team that ought to feel sick about it isn't our team, but the team where I live, the Houston Texans.

My only point is that QB ratings are overrated. And they are.

And to the fella who doesn't think he will be voted Rookie of the Year, get back to me after the award is given. And even if he doesn't win it, tell me where he ends up in the voting. I'll guarantee you right now he finishes no worse than 2nd.

Uhh...it is sort of hard to have the season totals finished before the season is over.

Here's where Romo's 2006 regular season lands him among the best all-time seasons for Dallas QB's. He's the only player who is in the top 5 in all of these categories.

Passer Rating
Staubach 1971 104.81
Aikman 1993 99.02
Romo 2006 95.10
Staubach 1973 94.57
Aikman 1995 93.56

TD's Per Game*
Meredith 1966 1.84
DWhite 1983 1.81
DWhite 1982 1.78
DWhite 1980 1.75
Romo 2006 1.73

Completion Percentage
Aikman 1993 69.1%
Aikman 1991 65.3%
Romo 2006 65.3%
Aikman 1995 64.8%
Aikman 1994 64.5%

Yards Per Attempt**
Staubach 1971 8.92
Morton 1969 8.67
Romo 2006 8.62
Staubach 1973 8.49
DWhite 1982 8.41

Yards Per Game*
Romo 2006 264
DWhite 1983 249
DWhite 1987 238
DWhite 1982 231
Aikman 1991 229

*Romo's yards per game and TD's per game in 2006 is based on 11 games played. Although he actually played in parts of 13 games, counting mop-up vs. the Texans and Titans, his total game time in 2006 was less than 11 full games.

**based on 13 attempts per game, so this stat favors QB's who played in the era of the run. If you base it on 24 attempts per game, Romo is the Cowboys' all-time ypa leader for a season.
those other guys played a full season though:rolleyes:

Again, maybe the 8 kick returns for TD's, and the 100 yard rushing games by Henry had something to do with that.

Just think if they would have had McNair. They would have made the playoffs.

Oh, I see. First you say he won't be given it. Then you say if he is it is because of his "team". I got ya.

Btw, what was Tennessee's record last year? Who was their QB?

Answer: 4-12
QB?: Steve McNair

Did their defense/special teams/running game look this good last year?

I don't remember that being the case.

He won't win Rookie of the Year. He settled that with today's sub par performance.

Give Romo 8 TD's off of returns, and see what his record would be as a starter.

Here are Young's stats from today:

V. Young15/36 227 02 int.

That's greatness.

Are you able to follow the conversation? I've already said he didn't have his best game today. Was facing the coach who has shut down more offenses than we can shake a stick at. The coach who has shut down Peyton Manning more than once.

But you also conveniently leave out his long TD run today.

Plus, like I said, and most NFL players would tell you, there is really only one stat that matters. W-L

Romo and Young both had the same stat today: L
