You guys are such Romo fans that you lose all objectivity.
I think it's the opposite. As fans, we're disappointed over a loss, and that affects how we respond to facts (like the ones I posted) that seem to tell us the opposite of what we've just seen.

I'm not saying, "Hey we really won that game", or "Everything's rosy as we head into the playoffs." We all know we're screwed. Sorry if I'm not depressed enough because of that, but I feel like we've got a guy we can build around. I offer evidence to back it up.

I think your opinion has more to do with what the team has done in the last four weeks than what Romo did this season. I think in a month or so, you're the one who'll be a little more objective when it comes to evaluating Romo's performance over the whole season.

Name calling? hmmm. I can't see where I did that.

But, great plays don't equal great play. Great plays can be undone by crucial turnovers. Great plays plus crucial turnovers don't equal great play.

Without the 2 fumbles and the interception (along with the punt fumble) Detroit doesn't win today.

Detroit doesn't win today, with average play by our D

You may be right Percy. I would just say, again, I'm not saying that Tony Romo hasn't done well this year. I think it is one of the best 1st year starts that any QB in Cowboys history has had. I can go with that without debate. But when stats are used to say this is one of the BEST SEASONS, PERIOD, that any Cowboys QB has ever had, I just can't see that, stats are not.

But, again, I enjoy these debates, and you certainly can make the argument you are making based on numbers alone.

It'll be interesting when all the numbers come out tomorrow where Romo ends up league-wise, in rating, %, and ypa. I guarantee you there aren't many first-year starters who finish top 5 in all three.

Here's where Romo's 2006 regular season lands him among the best all-time seasons for Dallas QB's. He's the only player who is in the top 5 in all of these categories.

Passer Rating
Staubach 1971 104.81
Aikman 1993 99.02
Romo 2006 95.10
Staubach 1973 94.57
Aikman 1995 93.56

TD's Per Game*
Meredith 1966 1.84
DWhite 1983 1.81
DWhite 1982 1.78
DWhite 1980 1.75
Romo 2006 1.73

Completion Percentage
Aikman 1993 69.1%
Aikman 1991 65.3%
Romo 2006 65.3%
Aikman 1995 64.8%
Aikman 1994 64.5%

Yards Per Attempt**
Staubach 1971 8.92
Morton 1969 8.67
Romo 2006 8.62
Staubach 1973 8.49
DWhite 1982 8.41

Yards Per Game*
Romo 2006 264
DWhite 1983 249
DWhite 1987 238
DWhite 1982 231
Aikman 1991 229

*Romo's yards per game and TD's per game in 2006 is based on 11 games played. Although he actually played in parts of 13 games, counting mop-up vs. the Texans and Titans, his total game time in 2006 was less than 11 full games.

**based on 13 attempts per game, so this stat favors QB's who played in the era of the run. If you base it on 24 attempts per game, Romo is the Cowboys' all-time ypa leader for a season.

The only stat I care about is the percentage of games won as QB. I'm thrilled with Romo's performance so far...I never expected anything but failure from him, so I'm pleasantly surprised, but until he leads the team to a better winning percentage, he's just a guy to me.
