per espn news ticker:eek:

hahah!!! Bye Ariza! Your head was inflated by your agent and he just screwed your chances at another ring. Don't get it twisted, Artest is light years better than Ariza at this stage of their careers right now. Artest is a bull and places the Lakers in great shape to defense the Celtics & Cavs next year.

Kobe, Gasol, Bynum!, Artest, LO(if we resign him)...Damn!

LeBronze can load up with has beens and players that think they're better than they are while the purple & gold will continue to bank championships.:lmao:

Mitch Kupchak is quickly securing himself as a very very good GM.

Somewhere Slate is curled up in a little ball right now crying loudly.

Oh snap! Ariza ditched out on your offer to hand him that boatload of money to go to Houston to be mediocre with the same money the Lakers would have given him. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Can you say fired agent? :D

Artest took a 3 yr 18 mil deal. The exact same money Ariza could have had ( let me mention once more... Artest is light years better that Ariza). hahah.. you know what this means right??

The door is wide open to resign Odom too. Mark these words right here... Odom will be resigned verrry soon. Be afraid. Be very afraid. ;)

this is a great pickup for the lakers! just when we were starting to catch up the lakers use their nas a boost ahead of us. i think if we can sign rasheed wallace we will be back on their heels, but as of now the lakers are back to being the clear favorites to win the west (assuming they keep odom)

How is Ariza a better defender?
Good question...

How isn't he?
Ohhhh touche.

Like how he did that Vintage... He completely dodged the question and put it on you to defend his position. And he pulled it off flawlessly. A stroke of pure genius.

From Spursblogger:

Our unofficial motto for Spurs teams the past couple of years has been "Three studs and a bunch of suck", harsh but mostly accurate. Our acquisition of Richard Jefferson (stud) accompanied by FSM dropping Chairman of the Boards Dujuan Blair in our laps set us in fine position to make a title run this up coming season. To be completely honest I didn't think it very important what big we were going to sign, just let him be serviceable. As far as I was concerned if we could win it with 3 studs and a bunch of suck in years past then 4 legit studs plus Mason, Hill and Blair should be enough. Then the dreadful news came. Artest to the Lakers is momentous. I don't think I'm in the minority to say Artest is an upgrade over Ariza but let's break it down anyhow.

Fair and balanced analysis here. ;)

i agree with the blogger 100%

in order for us to tip the scale a little more towards the middle we need to sign rasheed and another decent big man like mcdyess or gooden(our Free Agent)

Celtics are going after Rasheed.

they went hardcore after him the last 2 days! and reportedly rasheed and his wife were very impressed. but its a promising sign for us that he didnt take their offer just yet and stated he wanted to visit san antonio first, so here is hoping!

not to highjack this thread with rasheed stuff, but another plus for the spurs is that he will most likely start with the spurs, but with boston he would likely come off the bench

spurs are more guard/wing heavy right now than boston who is more big heavy

Rasheed probably starts in Boston alongside Garnett.

Perkins off the bench; can't see him starting ahead of Rasheed.

Tru. Perkins immediately goes to the bench if they get Rasheed.

Dodging questions? Get out of here.

Ariza is a better perimeter defender and Artest is just more physical with his body. Melo still tears Artest up when they play although it's not very often because Battier guards him most of the time.

There you go.

BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics have offered forward Rasheed Wallace a contract as part of a major push to land the coveted forward, according to a published report on Friday.
The Boston Globe reports the Celtics offered Wallace a deal during a three-hour meeting in Detroit on Thursday. Celtics stars Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce joined general manager Danny Ainge and managing partner Wyc Grousbeck at the meeting.

Wallace's agent, Bill Strickland, told the Globe in a text message that it was a "very good meeting; some contractual terms discussed, nothing agreed to."

He also said Wallace will be meeting with other teams next week. Charlotte, Cleveland, Orlando and San Antonio are said to be possible suitors.

The 35-year-old Wallace can play the low post and also has exceptional shooting range. He averaged 12 points per game for Detroit last year, before falling to 6.5 points per game in the first round of the playoffs as Detroit was swept in four games by Cleveland.

Wallace earned $13.68 million last season as he finished up a five-year contract with Detroit. Teams pursuing Wallace now would be offering the midlevel exception, worth between $5.6 million and $5.8 million.

Wallace, a starter most of his career, would likely play a complementary role in Boston. The Celtics are hoping they can lure him by offering a shot at a title. Wallace is also close to Garnett.

this isnt the article, but its one that hints at it, there is one that more clearly defined the role the celtics had for him, ill try to find it
