Ron Rivera: Next HC?

Just thought about this - Jerry loves him some PR. How do you think a hispanic coach would go over in these parts?
Great if he wins. Horribly if he doesn't.

We could do a lot worse. (Like Norv)
We also could do better (Like Stoops)
But if Rivera is available and amenable, I say "interview him!"

We have to get the personel. How would Ron Rivera helps us? Please don't give me no lame excuse like because the Bears team is good. It's the players on their team that is good. I believe with a good coach like Jimmy, Bob Stoops, or Bill Cowher could step us up.

What we don't need is a RETREAD! We don't need Phillips, Turner, Martz, Marriucci, etc. How many had even heard of Mike Tomlin before the Steelers hired him? I swear I had not heard of him.

Hispanic HC. Hispanic QB. Sounds like a match made in good ol Mexicali! We could have another American Bowl in Mexico City.... and perhaps something that has eluded us for years... Dare I say it? A Lombardi.

The Mexicans in Texas LOVE the freaking Cowboys.

And if we win 6 games next year, they will be wanting to hang their latino coach.

Rivera does what coaches do, he works with Ireland and GETS THE TALENT HE NEEDS.

I really don't understand the fascination with Bob Stoops. How is a guy who has no NFL Experience what so ever better than a guy who has put together two dominant NFL Defenses in each of the last two seasons?

Bring in Rivera and I will be one happy Boys fans.

Re: RealCowboyfan

Ummm...I am not going to even attemp to respond to your post, but at least spell Dwight FReeney correctly in your signature.

And a 2nd/3rd for Greg Ellis? Are you joking? Not going to happen especially after his injury.

By the way, Bill Bates was hired by another team already.

This is 2007....no way JJ hires the coaching staff of the 90s.

well that's just like saying don't jump on the assistants of any coach. I guess they can't learn anything from the head man.

Oh absolutely. I mean Rivera means nothing to the Chicago Bears Defensive Success. He played no role in Drafting all of those great players, in player development, in making sure each player knew their complete role on the team, in putting together a scheme for Defenses ranked in the Top 5 each of the last two seasons, etc. That was all Urlacher. He was the one drawing plays in the dirt before each snap that led to their lofty ranking and great Defensive unit. I see the light now.

perhaps.... but don't confuse facts - this is LOVIE'S "d".... may i suggest: lovie hasn't been extended, YET
the halas clan CANNOT outbid Jerry
wanna win, GET lovie

Get'er done Jerry! The best damn candidate left is still available. Most teams didn't want to wait for him to come available since the Bears were in the playoffs. This is an opportunity for us.

Can't believe I am about to say this,, but I agree with bluestar22.. Rivera looks the part here. I would be all for bringing this guy onboard.

might be this guy. of course that would mean a defense change but ware as a DE is that a bad thing?

Count me in on the "Hire Ron Rivera" Bandwagon.

1. He has led the Chicago defense (05-06) to dominance running the 3-4, while it would be nice to switch back to the 4-3 it's not realistic.

2. He is 44 years old. Perfect age.

3. He's come up through the ranks. He played on the 85 Bears, he went to Philly and helped make their linebackers including Trotter dominant, etc.

4. He's been passed over by the Arizona Cardinals so he HAS to be good.... hire him now Jerry! LOL

:laugh2:
