Root of the Rico argument

gee, you just said in #304 that "So what? It's preseason vs scrubs. He hasn't even ran with the starters."

so beating starters in 2017 does not count?

sometimes, defenders and coaches figure out how to stop players by watching more tape and learning more about them. true that he is 6'6" and 280 and is athletic....so perhaps they initially didn't know how to defend him, but subsequently, given they figured how limited he really is, they have been able to neutralize him and know how to defend him...that never crossed your mind. and there is plenty of evidence of that.

u mean defenders figured out how to stop rico when they do not have reps against him on the 1st team.
all the same time rico balls out when the 2nd/3rd teamers that he gets rep against?

wait... you said he was killing the 1st stringers...then rico went away....it stands to reason that the initial enthusiasm of "amazing" and "unstoppable" went away, because his production in practice declined and they figured out how to negate him? and given the reports of him not advancing in the classroom part of the process that explains a lot of what we have read recently....like I said NFL is full of these type of guys. Rico by no means is unique

regardless I am done with this none sense argument...you can believe what you want and live in the rico fantasy world....post all the meaningless quotes (that have been said about 100 other players).......where I tend to trust 10s of NFL level coaches over the past 3 years that he ain't all that, catch radius and all...

good luck to you and Rico, I will be extremely happy if it works out for him and you.

:lmao:
did they cut off rico's leg after mcclay said "unstoppable"
I think rico heard the comment and figured he is about to take the league by storm and focused on publishing a music album...I mean he hasn't played since 8th grade and he is killing it so why work at it...I already got it

He's stopping himself with his inability to consistently run the right plays, blocks his own players, or blocks nobody at all, runs right when he should run left...
That's how unstoppable he is.

This team hasn’t been able to use a TE outside of Witten since getting Witten. Go through the list, none of our coaches have been able to have success with anyone but Witten. You can blame the players we have had but at some point you gotta look at the coaches and schemes. Yea Rico isn’t anywhere near perfect but best believe Rico on another team will use him. I’m pretty sure Bennett Has a super bowl ring and Witten doesnt...smh

I constantly hear that Rico makes flash plays but isn't consistent enough in other areas to take a roster spot from any of the other 3 guys. If he takes a spot I think it would be from Swaim or Jarwin.

if we had a competent coach, there would not be much argument if the head coach said a player is lacking

however, we have garrett, who many do not trust.
if we had a coach like belicheat, i suspect most will take the coach at his word about the worth of players.

unfortunately the best argument is garrett's self-preservation.
what if another team picks rico up and he balls out.
I'm afraid you just don't get it.

The fact he is not playing much or featured much..

means nobody is expecting him.

He's a secret weapon.

we trot him out Week 1 and he catches 5 TDs.

Don't lie playboy

Nobody would be crusading this hard.

dont u remember putty in these arguments:
1. jaylon even when u jumped off the train...
2. tanking
3. free agency expenditures and salary cap scenarios?
i am hurt u forgot about my good work :(

What's the point with your comment about Bennett having a ring and Witten doesn't? Are you saying he was the reason NE won and Witten couldn't do the same with Dallas? Or are you saying Bennett was the better player of the two?

No reasonable person will back you up either way. Bennett has a Super Bowl ring because NE was short a TE when Gronk went down, and Bennett was in the right spot at the right time. NE found no reason to keep him the next year, just as 4 other teams decided he wasn't worth keeping.

That said, it's true the Cowboys have not done a good job getting other TE's incorporated in the system, but the reason for that is not that somehow they have no idea how to use a TE that isn't named Witten, it's because they never committed to using a TE not named Witten. Staying committed to Witten isn't an option now. They can and will use other TEs.
