I'd rather hang glide nude over the Rockies than cheer for the Eagles.

Seriously, I like the Cowboys chances in the rematch at the Linc because they will have had more time to prepare. Over a week versus the two or so days they had for the Thanksgiving Day game.

According to Jerry the Cowboys prepared during the bye week for Philly. Philly had the same amount of time to prepare as the Cowboys and they looked pumped up and ready to play. Philly was at a disadvantage having to travel to Dallas on Thanksgiving. There's no excuses for the Cowboys poor performance they simply got beat by the better team. They didn't look that good vs the Giants a few days earlier having to come back from an 11 point deficit to a bad 3 win team that just got beat by JAX.

Maybe they are better, or maybe the Cowboys are going through what virtually every other contender has gone through-a slump. If the Cowboys beat the Bears I am sure the rematch will be far more competitive.

i.e. - what offers best chances of Dallas making the playoffs

Well, if the Seahawks win next week (and assuming Dallas wins against the Bears), then it is another matchup for the NFC East lead after that. If Dallas were to win out the rest of the season, then they would become the NFC East champs, but I don't think that winning out is in the cards for Dallas. If they were to lose one game somewhere along the line, then the tie-breaker would most likely go in favor of the Eagles.

On the other hand, let's say that the Eagles hand the Seahawks another loss - then Dallas would own a potential wild card tie-breaker against Seattle if they finished the season with the same record (this is all assuming that Dallas loses no more than 2 games in the last 4 weeks which might not be a good assumption at all - in fact, I see another final game win/enter playoffs, lose/go home scenario shaping up).

And playing as a wild-card might also be favorable for Dallas given their home/visitor performance this year.

So, who is hoping for which outcome and why? (and this may all be a mute point if Dallas plays like this past game)

Only someone with a default Rowdy avatar would come up with the great idea of rooting for the Eagles.

It's usually the pretenders and not the contenders that go into slumps when the crunch games arrive. I've said it a few times it's not the loss that was troubling it was the way the Cowboys lost. You don't end up going anywhere getting clobbered on Thanksgiving and slumping heading into Dec. The Cowboys haven't looked very good since the loss to Washington. It's was looking like a magical season for awhile until they decided to take the night off vs Colt McCoy. It doesn't take much for complacency to set in with the Cowboys. They were riding high in the saddle for awhile but as usual heading into Dec they find themselves up against it. The rematch with Philly isn't going to be more competitive unless the defense stops giving up first possession TD's and the offense opens it up more. The Cowboys are going to have to take a page out of the Packers playbook and attack them. Rodgers came out and took it to them getting them down 17-0 in the first quarter putting the game on Sanchez's shoulders by the second quarter. They held McCoy to less than 4 yards a carry forcing Sanchez to have to beat them.

The Cowboys have been getting off to slow starts all season and that plays right into the hands of Philly and their fast pace offense. The Cowboys have found themselves down by some pretty good deficits this seasons and it took some great comebacks to win 3 of their 8 games. In the Cowboys last 3 games including against JAX they've allowed first possession TD's. They have no chance against Philly getting down early and having to fight their way back in front of a hostile December crowd. Philly took the will right out of the Cowboys on Thanksgiving exploiting them on the ground and through the air. They had the defense off balance the entire game. The Cowboys have to go up there and get on the board first and stop McCoy and put the game on Sanchez. If the Cowboys keep trying to pound Murray they'll find themselves down by a substantial margin again. Philly doesn't fool around they're looking to put a lot of points on the board and unless you can play outstanding defense and have a great pass rush you have to try and outscore them.

Rodgers destroyed them with the passing game. Their plan was to knock them out early and the Cowboys prefer to box into the later rounds but they're not good enough defensively to last past 5 rounds against an explosive offense. The only chance I see the Cowboys having against Philly is to look good beating the Bears and get Dez heavily involved. I would take to the air early and go after Philly. I'm not saying you don't run Murray but in this particular game you have pass first and run second because Philly will once again be gunning to stop him. To beat Philly the Cowboys are going to have to do it through the air and put at least 28-30 points on the board.

There is no way I will ever ever ever ever ever ever ever root for the Eagles to win anything ever.

Ever.

No way.

I don't care if it the Eagles winning somehow meant the Cowboys getting a free trip to the Super Bowl.

No.

I want the eagles to win. in order for us to catch the eagles we have to go 3-1 while they go 1-3. if they go 2-2 because of division record they win the division. so eagles in all probability will win the division. so it comes down to AZ, Detroit, SF, Seattle, Dallas for final three spots (division winner + 2 wild cards). Detroit has a good chance of going 11-5 because of their easy schedule down the stretch. so its down to AZ, Dallas, SF, Seattle for two playoff spot IMO. I want AZ to win their division and for SF to be one game behind us as they are 7-5 with a tough stretch of games in the last 4. so if it comes down to us and Seattle, then because of head to head win, we get the last spot. with that said, if AZ does a total collapse and loses last 4 games then we are just as good a shape.

Either result will suffice.

But first, just handle your own games. We are about to face 3 teams who have pretty good offenses. I know the Bears are down but they give us fits every single season. That is going to be a tough game.

Quit being silly. People say this type of stuff all the time and don't even believe what they are saying. If the Eagles were playing a game and if they won Dallas made the playoffs, you would 100 percent be rooting for the Eagles.

We own the head to head to tiebreaker with Seattle. They would have to finish a game ahead of us for it to matter in the wild card. We can still win the NFC East.

What part of that (forget all visceral hatred of the Eagles for a split second if you can) would lead any Cowboys fan to root for the Eagles? I hope the west coast birds knock the snot out of them and leave them still gasping for breath when we come to town.

If we beat the Bears, it's obvious we have to root for the eagles. Two reasons why

1. Giants ain't beating the eagles
2. skins ain't beating the eagles

Now you know the eagles are not losing to the giants or skins. So why even focus on the division?

I'm sorry, but this is a silly question.
Cheer for the Eagles? I'd rather shoot myself in the face.

We own the head to head tiebreaker with Seattle and although the Seahawks, Lions and Cowboys all have 8-4 records if the playoffs started this Sunday Seattle and Detroit would be the wildcards due to having a better divisional record than the Cowboys. Divisional record is the first tiebreaker.
