Pacman will end up being a great trade for us. I'm convinced he realizes this is his last shot. After his playing days are over he can go back to the strip clubs.

who are these "slew of others" your speaking of? I went back to 1992...the only players of REAL significance we got in that time in the 3rd rd was Witten and Nguyen...know how many picks that totaled? SEVENTEEN

and Peterman got thrown into a starting job with a team with arguably the worst OL in football...good call...he looked bad here, got cut and got picked up by basically the only team that would want him...even if you COUNT Peterman on the good side, thats 3 of 17...

I dont know what it is about that round, but we've had awful luck there...like I said, I doubt we gave up a 3rd anyway, but if we did who cares...Jones is far better than any player we'd get there and he knows his arse is grass if he screws up...he'll behave for at least a yr or so

David

Charlie Waters, Harvey Martin, Danny White, Bob Breunig, Butch Johnson, Tony Hill, Doug Cosbie, Mark Stepnoski, Jimmie Jones, Godfrey Miles, Erik Williams, Dexter Coakley, Dat Nguyen, Jason Witten, (Hatcher).

There have been 61 3rd rounders in the Boys history(give or take one on a mistake by me) and i'd say there are 12 players that would qualify as outstanding and 2 (Jones and Miles) would qualify as good players, and Hatcher is #15 that the jury is still out on. That's 1/4 of all 3rd rounders that end up being very, very good Cowboys players. Not bad for the picking area.

Just some food for thought.

who said we should make it a first? you pointed to a successful 4th round pick to prove your point which really can't be proven.

i won't be happy at all if we give up a 3rd then possibly a 5th for pacman. that's just idiocy. but then again i don't believe some random rumor i read on line and i certainly don't wad up my g-string in anger at rumors and say how stupid people are for doing it, or would be.

i tend to wait and see so *i* don't look like the stupid one.

I wasnt addressing you. My point was that with that logic, since weve missed in a particular round we should just trade it becaseu it doesnt matter. The extension of that logic is that since weve missed in the first it doesnt matter if we trade those as well.

That was the logic Dave was using.

no i don't disagree it's too high a price for the gamble. but like i just said, we ismply don't know what is true and what is not so no sense in getting all upset about a rumor as if it actually has merit.

Agreed.

Pac is far above a 3rd round talent, we all know that. Are you, as a fan, OK with the risk Jerry incurs by giving that 3RD for PAC? I don't like it, but I'm smart enough to know if he stays out of trouble he raises the level of talent on a SB contending team to the point where it probably ends up being worth it, if he stays for 3-4 years like TO. One year...we'd have to win a SB for me to think a 3RD for PAC for one year is a good deal. If it's a 3RD for PAC and he's one and done, it's probably a bad deal. No way to see the future, so none of us know. It's a gamble, and like i said earlier, Jerry, You're a gambling fool:D

But I'm a 4th generation rancher so i know what gamble is all about.

You ever seen a Rattle Snake when there cold? You can actully touch them on the top of the head and they won't move. The problem is, you just never know how long it takes for them to get enough heat in there body to wake up.

I don't believe for one minute that Jerry would be stupid enough to give a 3rd, much less a conditional 5th for Jones. However, if he does, then he desrves the strike because Jones, IMO, is every bit the rattle snake you run across from time to time.

My take? Jerry is 65, and very close to having a SB team. IMO he is at the stage where he'll pay the devil to get that ring without Jimmy J. and have people say "Ya, Jerry can win one without Jimmy". All the signs are there. Tuna, TO, Tank, Zach, Pac, etc.......

Couple a cold rattlers in that bunch;)

I like Pac Man Jones.... I really like Pac Man Jones, BUT Jerry Jones would be litterally out of his damn mind if he trades a 3rd round draft choice off for him.... I rather for Jerry just to take a chance on him getting released than trading a 3rd round off... Hell with that. Don't do it Jerry, we could draft a valueable player with that 3rd round draft choice...

You and me both, Stephen will have to have his dad committed if he agreed to a 3rd.;)

Rototimes has been wrong numerous times thus far. I don't see this happening (not with this compensation that is).

The sad thing is JJ still wouldnt get the credit he deserves. A lot of people would say BP built the team.

I don't believe it but there are scenarios where it could be prudent. First obviously the Cowboys want Jones. I don't say this as master of the obvious but that they want to get this player and they're going to get it done.

Two, there is at least one other team poking around and I suspect more. If Jerry gets wind other team(s) are going to make a move then if he is going to strike now and get him before a bidding war starts or the price goes up because there is more demand; however you want to imagine it.

If that's the case I'm all for it. If this guy either starts this year or plays STs and plays the nickel corner then he is worthy of starting pay for a CB. That makes him much more valuable than a 3 and a 5. The odds are this one player will outperform in the next few years any 3rd and 5th we get over the same time frame. And we're going to get him cheap as well.

For a cap strapped team who really needs a CB to get one this cheap without giving up much is ridiculously like getting a free lunch.

Get er dun.

This is especially true if it's true that Goodell has said he'll reinstate Pacman once the financial stuff between him and the Titans gets worked out. Still, the Titans wanted a 4th so it makes no sense for us to offer even higher. If we do give up a 3rd, it should be a 3rd and that's it.
