rotoworld: All signs point to Owens leaving cowboys *Merge*

Not true... Tony Romo could have made a lot more... Jerry has been one of the best at handling the salary cap. The Pac-man Jones contract is a case where Jerry made out pretty well. Snyder on the other hand...
he gave Davis, flozell,Hamlin,Roy,Owens big money that they didn't deserve. well maybe Davis he's been very good at RG

How does it not make sense?

You cant see Owens reacting to this in a negative way against the organization next year if things don't go well?

I know I can.

Some people just can't see owens in a bad light period.

Do I need to insert a smarta** remark now?

We did not know that Pacman was released until it was time TO release him. We heard he was going to be released, but we did not find out until it was official.

So, no, we would not have heard that iMouth is gone...totally different events.

that is if we were to release him, trading works alittle different.

When you trade a player, his current contract remains in effect for the new team. They usually get reworked by the new team, sometimes before trade happens, but either case the new team assumes responsibility.

and the accelerated cap hit from the bonus still takes effect.

Wether the Cowboys trade him or release him, they're still going to get a 9+ million dollars cap hit. It's as simple as that. No way around it.

I can't wait til we pay his bonus so we can get past all this speculation. Every friggin' year it's the same ol' thing.

I'm no T.O. lover, but I agree with you. I believe he's going to be a Cowboy for the upcoming year.

that and because Jerry hands out big contracts like nothing and because we are to football as to what the Yankees are to baseball.

Jerry actually hands out some pretty sensible market value deals. He isn't overpaying as you suggest. And frankly, we haven't had Yankee status in some time since we haven't won crap in so long.

Al Davis would go down as the "Idiot of the Century" if he makes this trade!
That would mean he let Randy Moss go for a 4th. And then traded to get TO for a 3rd!

I'll take it though......and throw in Tuiasosopho...or however you spell it! For some reason....every time we have played against him, in preseason, or whatever he has torched us!!!!!

That would take some of the pressure off of Jones. He would be the second biggest idiot then.

All of those guys would have received similar deals on the open market. Davis even got slightly larger offers elsewhere.

LOL...there's no 3rd round pick on the table and there never will be. There won't even be a box of doughnuts.

Well, maybe there will be...but they'll be in Marcus Spears' locker.

Please let this be true. A third rounder.... triple backflips....:)

I would draft Mohamed Massaquoi or Juaquin Iglessias and trade Patrick Crayton if I could find a parter. Sam Hurd moves up.

If Oakland's third rounder is right above our # 5 pick in that round, you could..

look for these guys:

Mohamed Massaquoi or Juaquin Iglessias (one of them should be there)
Rashad Johnson S Alabama

That's an excuse. We didn't know about Pacman until it happened out of the blue. But there has been speculation about this for weeks, so technically we do know. The final decision has not been made obviously. I for one, am glad they are weighing all options. I doubt this trade scenario has any wind in the sails at all, but the stuff about him being released is very real. He may end up staying, but it isn't definite by any wild stretch.

Actually could be more pressure, the "bar" has been raised.

Sorry...it was just so open for the taking.

There is a flip side to every thing. You are correct, and knowing Jerry he would try and top Al.

Are you still believing that TO is 65/35 to be playing elsewhere?

When your paying 13 million dollars in guaranteed money, it is liquid. It is closer to 14 million considering he played the full year. Like I said, your not going to throw away money like that. When you pay out that much money up-front, it is because of the notion that the guy is going to produce for a while. Even the trade doesn't resolve this conundrum, because that money is still gone. If Dallas trades him after just signing a contract, 14 million dollars went down the tube, based upon a year that was clearly the major fault of the Red-Headed 'Genius' that was Garrett. If Dallas releases Owens, it will actually show the opposite of what the anti-TO crowd is proclaiming. It will show the guy has gone totally insane.

TO is the center of speculation. The idea that there is speculation he would be released is nothing unusual in the whole spectrum of what the media is trying to project.
