rotoworld: All signs point to Owens leaving cowboys *Merge*

this is quite possibly the worst logic I've ever had the misfortune of reading in my entire life.
well if he knows they're discussing his future do you think he's gonna be a saint next year if he's with us?

Yup, the best thing that ever happened to Roy is that broken arm, cause now T.O.'s the one everyone wants cut. He's the reason the Eagles made us look like we didn't belong in the NFL.
I'd like to see Romo's numbers without a receiver who can take a simple slant route and take it to the house.

I and many others have said all along....where there's smoke there's a 10 alarm fire here. A few delusional holdouts disagree, but the die is cast......he'll be gone soon hopefully and this team can start to heal. Who said JJ never admits mistakes?

I hope we heal from fumbles, interceptions and bad play calling as well. ;)

TO's future has been discussed every year for the past 6 or 7 years, what's the difference

Not last year, he cried last year so everyone felt bad for him. He should have cried this year as well.

It makes no business sense whatsoever...we just gave the guy a 4-extension last season, if we cut him we only save $680,000 or so on the cap....we are still eating like $9-Milllion this year for him to leave....Are you kidding me? I'd rather pay $9-Million for a guy to catch TD's for me this season. Lets give Romo a full training camp w/Roy Williams and with new offensive adjustments and see how this "O" works next year.

Actually, he was allowed to seek a contract with teams to facilitate a trade. He agreed to terms with Philly.

Now say "sorry, I was wrong"

I already said I had been wrong on part of mine as well, if you'd bothered to read the rest of what I posted where I had the articles talking about it.

He was indeed allowed to seek other potential offers but the Ravens came through with an offer the Niners liked better than the one that Owens agent was getting so they dealt him there, as per the articles I posted.

Owens balked, refused to go there for the physical, and wouldn't agree to the trade and thus forced the Niners to basically back out of the deal, where the niners, in reality, got shafted cause they lost the #2 that Baltimore was goin to get, the Ravens got a 5 from the Eagles just for playing, and the Eagles got Owens from the Niners for some piss poor DE.

So, yes, I was wrong about the deal his agent and he had worked up for the Eagles, as I said, but like it was mentioned he blocked a trade to the Ravens, by refusing to go there after the Niners got a deal from them they liked.

A pro football reporter who thinks Owens will return (Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports):

"Considering the amount of time everyone in the franchise will have to get a grip, he’ll likely be back. Here is why: The team will have until June to make its decision, because Owens isn’t due his $3.1 million roster bonus until that point. That’s plenty of time for owner Jerry Jones and coach Wade Phillips to mend fences, and come to realize that the offense is still at its best with Owens on the roster. Perhaps if wideout Roy Williams had factored in more down the stretch last season, the thought process would be different. But Dallas will look at the books and realize that with only $10 million in salary cap space, cutting Owens would actually cost them $680,000, which is a double negative – removing a talented (albeit corrosive) player, and costing the franchise additional cap room that could provide it a little extra depth."

Easy..just have Jerry say:Hey Al, I'll give you Owens for a third rounder and I'll even throw in 5Coutem5 and Bleu Star for good measure!."

fixed...

Then that just makes him a bigger idiot

Actually it is one of the things that makes Jerry so respected by players. He doesn't screw them over.

And it was suggested to him by the NFLPA that he did have the right to do so since he had been placed in a screwed up situation by his idiot agent who neglected to file basic paperwork that would have established him as a free agent. How many other players has that happened to?

The Niners didn't get the shaft at all -- they got a compromise - had the case gone to arbitration, they may have ended up with nothing.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Either way, there's going to be a lot of *****ing and moaning. Some group (the pro-TO/anti TO) is going to be very disappointed.

I for one, can't wait.
Vintage = voyeur

If he was gonna be gone, he'd be gone by now.

But you guys keep telling yourselves what you want to hear...
No one could be released before yesterday. Pacman was released yesterday for that very reason. Learn the game.

I'm not saying he didn't but it's just as much on him, IMHO, as it is his agent when they miss filing paper work before a deadline. That's a very simple act. They're both to blame there.

And I get what you're saying about how they could have got nothing but, if you're looking at it honestly, they basically got nothing.

They went from getting a #2 for him to getting a spare part who I'm not even sure actually made the team.

True but in reality is he really screwing them? I mean he can't make the fans spend that money. If they're feeling screwed they're doing it to themselves by spending the money.
