rotoworld: All signs point to Owens leaving cowboys *Merge*

TO is the center of speculation. The idea that there is speculation he would be released is nothing unusual in the whole spectrum of what the media is trying to project.

It was speculated that Pacman was going to be released...

What happend?

When your paying 13 million dollars in guaranteed money, it is liquid. It is closer to 14 million considering he played the full year. Like I said, your not going to throw away money like that. Owens already got 14 million dollars , so if Dallas trades him after just signing a contract, 14 million dollars went down the tube, based upon a year that was clearly the fault of the Red-Headed 'Genius' that was Garrett. If Dallas releases Owens, it will actually show the opposite of what the anti-TO crowd is proclaiming. It will show the guy has gone totally insane.

Who ever said Jones was sane?

There was? Jerry and the Cowboys organization proclaimed they were going to release him when the ESPN story hit the fan. Nobody expected it. They just did it yesterday because of the NFL rules. Further, Jerry protected himself through the contract he drew up in regards to Pac-man. The contract of TO is totally different. The comaprison of TO to Pac-man isn't anywhere near close. The team also proved itself with quality back-ups in Jenkins and Scandrick, while we don't have anywhere near a viable threat as a WR.

When it comes to money, Jones is about as sane as they come. The business aspect is surely one thing even his most ardent critics can't criticize him for.

Are you still believing that TO is 65/35 to be playing elsewhere?
Yeah, between that and 60/40. I think the odds are he might be released.

I'd like to see him try and work it out. I really just want the guy to shut up. He's a good player but he's a drama nightmare.

That's an excuse. We didn't know about Pacman until it happened out of the blue. But there has been speculation about this for weeks, so technically we do know. The final decision has not been made obviously. I for one, am glad they are weighing all options. I doubt this trade scenario has any wind in the sails at all, but the stuff about him being released is very real. He may end up staying, but it isn't definite by any wild stretch.

There's been speculation on a lot of things- don't make them real. It's just noise.

We have a board full of folks hoping if they say something enough, it will happen. Pretty standard human behavior, but their disappointment is coming. If he was going, an announcement would have been made and Jerry would give him ( one of his favorite players) all the time in the world to catch on somewhere else. Just like the announcement a long time ago on Pac.

Someone's gonna be right, I'm willing to wait.

Do YOU really think that Pacman was coming back?

Everyone in the media world and the free world as well knew Pacman was gone!

Oh, and that "viable threat" is getting older by the minute! T.O. does not fit this team anymore. He's a loud mouth, a bad route runner, and is getting slower as he gets older. He is not what he once was when he was younger.

Keeping him does not guarantee anything. Getting rid of him guarantees that his presence and his bad behavior does not trickle down to the young guys...you do know that this is a young man's game, right? You cannot hold onto a old fool that complains about everything to anyone that will listen...

That's a fantasy, not reality. They announced Pacman, but they don't announce everyone who will be released.

their's an article about this on DC.com. if it was just the media do you think Jerry would allow that on his team's website?

UmmmmmmKayyyyyyyyyy

Be one way to find out.

BUT- Keep hope alive!

I fully expect Owens back next year and hopefully with the ever increasing articles, a different perspective on the rest of his career. If he gives 100%, keeps the distractions to a minimum and puts the team first, he'll go much further than his path has taken him thus far.

Post #146 of this thread. I wonder if you are man enough to admit you just assumed wrong?

Tell me when they announced ahead of time the firing of Stewart and Read. Or any release besides Pacman where they announced it ahead of time.

Romo just said the whole team wants TO back and Jerry already said he is coming back.

I just don't see where all this speculation comes from.

If what you are saying...there are going to be a lot of shrinks making money off T.O.!

They aren't TO, Jerry would go out of his way to take care of him and taking care of him would be to give him the best shot at catching on somewhere.
