Roy Williams "sorry" for fourth-quarter drop

Needing a third-down conversion in the fourth quarter from the Dallas 46, Tony Romo went to Roy Williams on a slant and the wide receiver could not come up with a big catch, forcing a punt.

"I dropped a ball, sorry," Williams said. "I'll make it up this next game. Sorry. Happens sometimes."

Williams is right, drops will happen, but that's a little too nonchalant, isn't it? Williams has dropped a few passes this year, like the big one at Green Bay. I don't know if I wanted to see him beat himself up but I wanted something other than, "Sorry."

"I'm not a guy who loses confidence in my hands or whatever," Williams said. "I feel I still have the best hands in this league. You've got to feel that way. I feel that way. It happens to the best of them."

On the Cowboys' next drive after New Orleans cut the gap to 24-17, Romo faced another critical third-down play from the Dallas 23. He threw another slant. This time it went to Miles Austin and he picked up 32 yards.

Just saying.

Yep sorry ain't good enough, we need his first born because his drop did not lead to a loss. Heaven forbid if it caused us to lose.

OMG this guy is amazing... I'm no longer on the fence. He's a bum!

Yep, I was for bringing this guy in but the fact of the matter is that his attitude has brought all this criticism upon himself.

He could say that every game, but what does he do? Drops another on 3rd down.

Problem is, just because you have confidence of steel in yourself, that doesn't mean everyone else does. Those who control who is on the field have to have confidence in you also. Ask Nick Folk.

That has got to be his attitude- its just like a CB who just got beaten for a TD. He has to shrug it off and forget about ASAP. Should not say this though- because you get a lot of heat from stupid people.

The problem is the losing mentality of being in Detroit.

Everyone loves to dog out Dallas but they're no Detroit when it comes to losing....

Problem is, he is too busy trying to prove he is the number 1 guy instead of concentrating on the game.

He is his own worst enemy!

Roy Williams on the dropped pass
By Calvin Watkins

IRVING -- Yes, Roy Williams dropped pass was last Saturday night in the Superdome. But it was in the fourth quarter and it was on third down. If Williams holds on, it's a first down and maybe the Cowboys get to extend a 24-10 lead with about 12 minutes to play in the game.

But Williams dropped the pass and finished the day with one catch for 14 yards.

"I’m cool. I dropped a ball. Sorry. I will make it up this next game, sorry, it happens sometimes," Williams said. "I'm not a guy that loses confidence in my hands or whatever, I still feel like I have the best hands in this league, you got to feel that way. It happens, it happens to the best of them."

Wide receivers coach Ray Sherman had this to say about the drop: "Just got to make those plays in crunch time. You have to make them."

Williams' numbers have been well documented as has the scrunity he's been under since the Cowboys gave up three draft picks for him last year. The $45 million contract also brings him a lot of flak when he doesn't produce.

On the season, Williams has 37 catches for 592 yards. With two games remaining in the regular season it doesn't appear Williams will reach 1,000 receiving yards and he might not get more than 40 catches at this rate.

"That’s like the first four or five games, the stats I got," Williams said. "This is Week 15, like I said, we're 9-5 so it's whatever."

Jerry Jones, the man who signs the checks around here, said he's still behind Williams.

"I understand where the criticism is and I know where the expectatiosn are," Jones said on KRLD Tuesday morning. "That has something to do with it, too. But more important than anything, we want our best players, when given an opportunity, to make plays."

I'll say it now.

I'd give anything to have TO back.

Not a chance, just mix in Ogletree, Crayton and Hurd and we would not miss a beat and I am serious!

I don't see anything about his attitude during the games or during plays that indicate he is not giving his all.
