In truth it's been a little bit of both in regards to the WR's and Dak. As it is the Cowboys got 15 catches for 211 yards out of the receivers at Washington yesterday so maybe Cooper isn't destined to fail here after all.

Prescott haters are going to have to live with the fact he's going to be the QB here at least through the 2019 season, and Amari Cooper will either help make him or break him. If it's the latter, the Cowboys draft a QB in 2020; and then we can complain about him. (Just kidding).

The Prescott haters are are simply the ones who see the obvious. The guy struggles to conduct a passing attack. Its just beyond obvious.

I have to admit you are right. But the Cowboys' coaches are as much at fault, if not more. Look at the plays Dak made in the wins over the Lions and Jaguars. Where were those yesterday?

It's almost like once Garrett and Linehan find something Dak is good at, it gets ignored for weeks. And Prescott is a flawed third year passer that has to fall on the sword.

I am a Prescott fan, and I admit he will never be an upper-tier (top five or ten) quarterback. But with competent playcalling and schemes, you can win a lot of games with his physical abilities.

Regardless, Cooper has talent and upside that Williams never had. Williams was just a big target with wide catching radius.

Cooper is a big enough (6'1) receiver with exceptional speed, body control, quickness, and run after the catch skills. He's had issues with drops, but he's a special player. The Cowboys got better today, my only issue is at what cost?

Actually, roy could fly. He was big and fast. But, like Cooper, he wasn't at the top of his game when we paid full retail price for him. Like cooper, he was 2 years removed from a pro bowl season. Like Cooper, he came from a team that had no future plans for him. Like Cooper, this FO was making a desperate move to salvage a season. The parallels are there.

Stupid is what stupid does ......... and we are sooooo freaking stupid I cannot even express how pissed off I am right now. This FO has learned nothing over the years from its mistakes which is why we haven't had 2 consecutive 10 win season in forever.

So, now we bring in a guy whose not having a good year.......didn't have a good year last year..............has no familiarity with the offense or chemistry with Dak. But, he's going to come here and do what for us exactly?

Couldn't agree more infact take it a step further, he is not having a good year but it is his 4th year of his rookie deal, meaning in order to keep him and not have him become a FA next year the Cowboys must pick up his 5th year option (approx 14m for next season), then if he doesn't improve next year we basically gave up a 1st round pick to pay a guy 14m for one season to then probably/mabye let him go.......LMAO

The FO just isn't watching the same game most of us watch. There is no other explanation. This team is not an elite WR away from competing. We have a QB issue and OL issues that needed to be addressed first. Dak isn't going to be finding Amari open anymore than he could find Hurns and Gallup.

I said in another thread that the cowboys formula for success was: Quarterback with accuracy issues + Receiver that drops balls = Superbowl!

Yeah, but I don't think the receivers have been getting open quite as much as Beasley and Hurns said they were for most of the season. Cooper is a guy that has the ability to go up and get some contested balls. I watched some of his highlights after the trade and that stuck out for me.

I think Dak can find the open guy. His problem is he is so conscious of not wanting to throw a pick he hesitates to pull the trigger unless a guy is blatantly open. That has to change.

This dude is so overrated it's not even funny. Makes me sick to see smart teams like the Pat's go and get a real talent like Gordon for a bag of chips while we are handing over a golden ticket for a bum who will not be able to hide the fact that this QB is a backup masquerading as a starter.

I was suspect too but thats before folks starting writing about it and players began speaking up and folks began looking at the tape. Romo was all over it yesterday showing several plays where the receivers had walk in TDs if Dak had seen them. Dak also holds the ball too long and hesitates throwing to guys who aren't clearly wide open b/c he doesn't trust his arm. For good reason. I think he is a quality back-up QB but a mediocre NFL starter. I have no faith he can take this team anywhere without something like the 85' Bears defense.

Then they will be so close to the top of the second round it will be very easy to trade back up into the bottom of the first round.

I did have a question on that.

Is Cooper's contract on the 5th year guaranteed? That would be a nice little cherry on the top of giving up the 1st.

I wouldn't have taken Cooper for that money with *no* draft pick in trade.

As for being all in on Dak and Garrett/Linehan. I can't see how anyone with two neurons to rub together could possibly be all in on *both*. The combination of those 3 has been a disaster for the last year. We had a full offseason to fix it. And not.

I'd like to see Dak with competent coaching, but I certainly wouldn't say I'm all in on him. He's worth giving a chance. But I am all out on Garrett/Linehan.

We are on year 3 of that "chance". I think Dak has gotten one of the best opportunities to succeed in the NFL when you factor in Zeke and the money we have spent on the OL. How much longer? I think the FO answered that question today. I think we'll see a change in the coaching staff before we see a QB brought in to challenge Dak. Its Dak for the foreseeable future.

The irony is Garret himself parlayed a flash in the pan season into a career. Looks like Dak is on a similar path.

Yeah,I went on Helman’s twitter. He didn’t like this deal either...it’s too costly. Looks like Stephen is the one who pulled this deal. It’s a total desperation move too. I seriously think they could have gotten him for a 2nd. They didn’t even offer that...just a 1st. Wow...just no negotiations. “Give you a 1st first Reggie...want to make a deal?”

The difference between this and Roy Williams is Roy was coming in as a number 2 as an excuse for Garrett’s failing passing game and to take pressure off TO.

This was done for as a number 1 after getting rid of Dez, who they blamed as the reason the QB stunk and after Stephen Jones was taking shots at Dez this season.
