I have no idea what is wrong here with them 2. I'm sure both are to blame but it seems more him than Romo. I mean almost EVERY pass, they are not on page. I give the benefit to the QB more often than the WR. It's already been a year now. His numbers are pathetic. Just another TO. He's not as expressive in the media but he does have that pouty attitude with him and he will make remarks. Keep that crap in house.

I will agree he needs to be used better. Hit him on those quick passes and get him the ball quick, instead of those long developing pass plays down the field.

RW is TO, without the strength and speed

There sure is a lot of stupid in this thread.

It usually is when a thread is pertaining to Roy. I'm almost at the point where i'm not going to even enter them anymore.

one of the Fox crew said something really telling

that Roy is a certain, route type of receiver, that he can't run routes that call for him to run a pattern

that's pretty sad

Miles Austin can, and he can run slants and drags

Very interesting. Sounds like all the Lions fans that warned us were correct. I didn't want to hear it at the time but it's becoming harder to ignore every week.

Can you ask Lions fans how he "lucked" into a Pro Bowl on a team that had no quarterback and no receiving threats other than himself?

Strange thing to me is that the miscommunication/misfiring between Tony and RW is about all on fairly short routes, not like it was deep patterns where there is more room for error.

It's about all 10-15 yard passes where it's over RW's head, just behind him, or whatever. Why is Tony missing RW on all these slant routes, unless RW is just taking the wrong angle somehow, late in his cut, just not consistent maybe overall.

It all has to do with the price we paid for RW. We kick the tires more.

And it has to do with Jerry making decisions unilaterally (probably). Like when he turned down the Bengals' offer for Bennett outright it is reported ... without consulting scouts, Ciskowski, Stephen, John Garrett etc. etc. ... Just once I'd like to hear Jerry say: "We got a trade offer, and after a lot of discussion with all our scouts and coaches, we decided to (fill in the blank) ... " ... Instead it's Jerry saying a few weeks ago: "When I traded for RW ..."

williams has never had a double-digit td season and has only surpassed 1k yds once in his career where he was the focal point of the offense for many of those seasons (not to mention, he's only played a full season's worth of games once)...

I don't think williams really played that well in his early years with detroit... he had a good/great season in 06, but that seems to be an aberration when you look at his career as a whole (it's almost a stretch to assume that he'll play a full 16 game season considering he's played a full slate of games once in his career)

Don't forget Williams in Detroit during his better days was in a Martz scheme and constantly trailing from behind

in 2006 the Lions had signed Mike Furrey to a one-year deal on April 4, 2006 as a Wide receiver, being one of the few active players in the NFL to have started on both offense and defense in his career. He has emerged as a solid option in the Lions offense, catching 98 passes for 1,086 yards and seven touchdowns through Week 17. His 98 receptions for that season were the most for any player on the team, in the division, and in the conference, and second best in the league

and RW only had 82

should have been Furrey going to the Pro Bowl

I think there's shared blame to go around, as Romo has been undeniably "off" on a number of throws to Roy this season (the one that cracked his ribs comes to mind). But on the what-the-hell throws, I'm hesitant to question the Pro Bowl quarterback who has been pretty in synch with every other receiving threat in the offense.

Some people have mentioned in this thread about the advice Kitna has offered and how Romo may still be learning where Roy likes the ball. I just wonder/fear if Roy's style doesn't mesh well with the throws Romo is good at making. I wonder if Romo would have liked Keyshawn as a receiver, for instance. But at the end of the day if you're given a good receiver -- and Roy is a good player, contract be damned -- I think you've got to find a way to make it work.

Time will answer this one. Fortunately, we've still got a good bit longer before having to make a conclusive decision on where this relationship is headed. So many folks are ready to cut him, bench him, trade him -- heck, Cris Carter might be ready to put a bullet in him -- but I frown on a knee jerk reaction here. There's no reason to decide seven games into the season that he needs to be cut. Let's ride this thing out and then decide. It only makes sense.

Mike Furrey ? 1086 yards and 98 catches in 06

Williams was named an alternate for the 2007 Pro Bowl. When Torry Holt withdrew due to injury, Williams was named to the active squad.

seems that that Tory Holt was injured ?

Prior to coming here, Roy's body of work suggested he was good for about 800 yards and six or so touchdowns if I'm not mistaken per season -- which rarely equated to 16 games because of injuries. I remember breaking down the numbers and he averaged more than 1,000 yards per 16 games played, not that that is a consolation prize for being injury prone.

With that said, his performance here makes what he did in Detroit look Jerry Rice-ian. It's baffling that a physically gifted, but not fully refined wideout who produced solid numbers in the arm pit of the NFL could come here and average what he has.

How many playbooks did they give Roy to learn? 12? Will this guy ever get it? The optimists will of course say yes while the pessimists will say hell no. For the sake of the team, our 1st & 3rd round draft picks, his legacy, Jerry's pride, our playoff chances, etc etc... Roy had better wake the hell up.

What if Roy just isn't the player he used to be?

Happened to the other Roy. What if the guy just fell off?

This is a possability. I mean, we did see this happen to the other Roy so you have to give that consideration. However, Roy Williams is getting open so I don't know that this ihis holds true if you really look at things.

Watch the incomplete to Witten near the goal line. Roy is open in the front corner of the endzone, just beyond Witten. If Tony throws that, it's a TD. Roy beat press on the TD to Miles as well. He's open on that play. Tony looks at him but goes the other way to Miles. It is what it is but I don't think that the problem is Roy doesn't have it anymore. I just think it's something between Tony and Roy.
