Why does it even matter? Why even complain because one player isn't allowed to be the focal point? Mr. Focal Point himself was released for this very reason, now analysts and fans alike want to view things in the same way he was scrutinized and criticized for. Why isn't Roy this, why isn't Roy that. It's a team sport. Romo threw to 10 different guys today in a big win and they won as a team.

Williams hasn't produced like a Number 1 and I couldn't care less. If Crayton gets in the end zone, great. Hurd; Austin; Witten; doesn't matter, it's 6 for the Cowboys. I like things this way, too much for any team to focus on and negate.

Cue the "we didn't pay $45 mil and 3 draft picks for x" responses.

I don't agree with em, but they're coming.

Romo was off on several throws today. He was real bad with Roy and perhaps it's because we were just looking for it but when my wife is standing in the kitchen cooking soup and she asks if Romo doesn't like Roy Williams, you know somethings up. She said that he throws it in the stands every time he throws to Williams but with Miles, he throws it between three guys and hits him right in the gut.

:laugh2:

She's not wrong.

Roy worries me. Granted, Romo wasn't dead on with a few passes his way, but for a guy who's noted for being a "hands guy" I saw him drop some balls that he should have caught. I hope the TD gives him some confidence; but I'm still on the cusp with him.

From what I've seen to this point, I'd be very content with trading him away for a high draft pick, if we could finagle his contract.

My best guess is that it is a combination of two things:

1. Roy is running lousy routes.

2. Roy is stupid and hasn't learned how to run the adjustments to routes that Garrett's offense requires.

Anyhow, in the end it looks like we don't really need him at all to have a productive offense. We should start getting Hurd and Ogletree some more snaps with the hopes one of them will beat out RW11 for one of the top 3 spots.

Look, the math is simple - a vet receiver with single coverage has trouble getting open and making plays when all others don't - same QB, different results. Roy has problems in this scenario, not Tony.

It's been the same story his whole career - excuses for why he hasn't lived up to the hype. He has grown a whole legion of fans who will excuse every mistake he makes.

That's what BSPN keeps telling them. BSPN tells these guys he's a lousy route runner and they believe it.
And Troy, Dilfer, and Irvin, but what do they know?

I hope that Roy (and Tony) get it together, the team is bending over backwards to get him involved, but we cant afford to force it to him next week. Every 3 and out against Philly could be a quick 7, I think that we played nice with Roy this week, but it has to stop. The guy is incompetent in his current form.

Yes, I am close to being ready to call this experiment over.

It is too bad Ogletree isn't up to speed to be counted on to play alot of snaps against the Eagles. Hurd is ready and willing but just not very able.

At some point, the coaches have to put our best offensive team out on the field and right now I think they are better with RW11 on the bench.

Hate to say it but #2 has occurred to me.

I've said before that I think Roy is a smart guy, but I doubt it's Romo who's getting those adjustments wrong.

So who starts opposite Austin?

And I'll have some serious lulz if you say Olgetree.

Troy pointed it out in a game last year. Which nobody knew at the time he had a foot injury and couldn't plant. This year he's covered the Cowboys and has said nothing about Roy not running good routes.

I read the first two or three posts to get the gist of this thread.

My response: who the hell cares? We just posted another W and moved to 5-2 and tied for 1st in the NFC East.

I don't think its about adjustments. I think he's just overthrowing Roy. Roy isn't the only one being overthrown. Witten and Crayton have to as well.

Thanks for injecting some common sense into this thread! The "o" is at the top of the league, the team has ran off three straight, & some are worried why 11 is not setting the world on fire?! Does it really matter at this point? As long as someone's putting up the numbers is the pecking order really that important? At the end of the day, as long as they're winning this should be a non-issue, IMO...

Why do you think Roy is so smart. His Wonderlic is 17 or 18 which is far from spectacular. I will grant that the inteilligence required to play football well may not be captured well by the Wonderlic but there is probably some reason that the pro personnel departments who run the draft continue to use it.

It is odd that Romo can complete passes to everyone but RW. There must be something wrong. The whole thing is just odd
